what do you think of a 4-owners-clk55?
Again, thanks for all your great inputs on my previous topic "e55 or clk55." I have decided to go with a clk55 instead of an e55. The price seems to be cheaper for the clk55 of the same year. Moreover, the dash of the e55 is too familar (too close to my w211 wagon). I wanted something different.
I came across this 04 clk55 convertible with 66k miles. However, Carfax says it has 4 previous owners and seems to have lots of repairs (don't know if it is good or bad). Here is the free Carfax from the independent dealer .. hope it works. They wants $19k.

sure did drive it. it seems tight (no rattle, seats have no crack) ... power is pretty 'alive.' it has been sitting on the lot for awhile so they dropped $1000.00 just me showing up. the place seems like your typical used car lot but seems to have lots of luxury cars. hard to put my fingers on it.
all my other used cars were bought at the big dealerships.

Sounds ok and history is what I would expect at that mileage - drive it and get someone who knows check it - knock them down a bit more as its been on the lot for a while.
I bought mine with 80k on it - and have added 6k and have done rotors and pads and a few bits for the steering rack etc as well as normal service stuff.
66k sounds ok unless you do big miles!! They will do 140k plus no problem - I've seen one advertised in the Uk with 220k!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks everyone for the insights. After much research, I have decided to go with the regular CLK500 convertible. The 55 would have been nice but the cost to maintain might be unreasonable for me. Moreover, I would be able to pick up a newer with low miles on the regular CLK for the same price (which I did). I picked one up a few hours ago from the MB dealer. '05 Black/Black with 38k miles. I paid $20k out the door. See you over at the regular CLK forum
