Ouch! Really really sorry to hear that. I guess the bullet proof block had taken enough bullets

Was it at the track or taking a hard beating when it happened? whippeled e55 motor in the future maybe?

Thanks. Yea it was good while it lasted. Accomplished alot more than I expected but left alot on the table as well.

No, just took the car out for a spin and got on it once and boom. It happens. It was strange because I had just recently put leaded 110 in it. I have a 211 E55 but I'm not interested in putting a Whipple on it. Actually going to sell that too.

I will post pics of the carnage if people want to see. So far i've pulled off the SC, and pulled out the cams. I pulled the plugs and they had oil on some of them but nothing hit them. I did see a hole in the block when it happened and a crack on the other side. It went out like a champ lol

Thanks, could have been much worse! I could have easily crashed or had the car catch on fire from all the oil everywhere on the headers and exhaust

Sorry to hear this. Would have liked to see what it was going to do with axles and such. Can you cancel the order with DSS?

Trust me, I would have loved to see it too. My friend Alex in Canada will carry on the torch for the clk's I'm trying to cancel the order but as usual they are hard to communicate with

Thanks. Guess I found the limit lol. Who knows, maybeone day I will get bored and build another one.. this time with all the knowledge I gained... with a built motor, axles, and more boost!

Haha yea exactly!

Yes I am but the bottom end is useless unless you want to make a table out of it I am thinking I broke a rod or two which would be a first time I've heard of that on these motors since they are crack forged rods! I can tell you I had just put leaded 110 octane gas in it and it was hauling serious ***!!! My rear tires were rubbing in 3rd gear it was squatting so hard! I have paint on the tires to prove it lol

That car is a hero to all the little clk's out there rooting it on as it breaks through records making us all proud. There should be a youtube video filmed to honor this fallen comrade

You are selling the e55 so what's next? I'm guessing you went along the route of attempting to drop an e55 motor in the clk and decided it wasn't worth the headache

It's crazy that you had built that thing up and were pumping out so much power that the "weakest link" in your powerchain was crack forged!!

Your blood's 25% leaded 110, 25% rear wheels squat power-rubbing in third gear and 1000% Benzzz W208/55 powaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. You'll be back.... litered-up, boosted-up and ready to shred it.

The mustang 5.0 roller motor is known to break at +/-500rwhp for reference..... so the amg mill was pretty hardy!

Sorry to hear that.. Thats a real shame.
At least, like you said.. You and the car went out like a boss..
You have/had the fastest and best CLK around.. I'd even go as far to say in the world!
Everything you have done is above and beyond the limits.

I dont know what your planning/moving onto next, but good luck bro...

Wow thanks for the compliment!

Well I parted most of it out already. I have shocks coming for the E55 and then I will sell it. Not sure what the future holds for me. Changes by the minute.

Haha you always crack me up Marco!

I'm already regretting parting my car out and looking for another supercharger to get back in it lol

Well this is a bad sign. I can see through my block to the other side

Ruh roh I don't think these are supposed to be here

And thats where it came from

Btw, the CLK55 rods are very similar to E55 and also crack forged. Ricer hoopty powaaaa

Am I the first to break a rod in these motors?

Has anyone sources a better off-the-shelf replacement rotating assy? rods/crank?

It appears your block is not the weak link but the rods. Major props to the block

Yikes, unbelievable seeing the damage caused by a rod when it decides to part company with the rest of the moving parts
Looks like the rod snapped and parted at the top (piston) end. Crank end looks solid though

The piston is still in the cylinder. You can see the connecting pin in the piston. The top of the rod probably broke there

Ok so I pulled the piston out from the cylinder and it was lodged in there. It's not pretty

I wonder if the rod when breaking thumped the piston skirt exploding it to pieces. Did the top end get damaged (valves for example) on that cylinder?
