TH350, TH400, T5 clutch/TOB/PP rear main changes..... so this should not be too much different.

These cars are so well built.... they are actually EASIER to work on than the domestics I've played with in the past.

Next steps:
* sand the rotora calipers, apply red caliper paint, and aftermarket AMG labels.
* clean up the rotors.
* Install new alternator,
* Install new radiator,
* Remove exhaust,
* Remove trans,
* Install long tubes.
* Change rear main seal.....
* Decide on if I really want a higher stall convertor..... (prob no).
* Reinstall trans fluid flush, new filter......
* Decide if I really need a new h/e...... the kleeman unit works fine.
* Install koni's, HR's, sways....
* Test fit face lift front clip..... then pull apart and have it painted.
* Black-out the headlap assy's.... reinstall.
Needless to say the garage has been commandeered by the clk for a few weeks.

Liking the plans. Looking forward to the results

Interested in the 55K heat exchanger, if it works out good for you it might be something I should try here, gets a tad but toasty in the summer.

Kev... I'll post up pics when of FTP install.
It's got the big 3/4" nipples like the Klee unit.

I was wondering about that, very good to know! I'm figuring I'll drive mine another month max, then take it off the road for the hottest of the summer months and finish off a few pending things left to do, that would be an ideal time to swap out the HE as I'll have the front end off.

I wish I had known about the larger HE when I had to replace my leaky Kleemann unit since it was a rather large PITA to do. My rear main seal and valve covers were both leaking when I bought my car at 32k miles. I've also already had to repace the right side valve cover gasket again recently. I'm around 47k miles now.

Yup91! Oil leaking everywhere. Seems quite common on this platform.

Hey Jeff, I hope when you say '3/4" nipples'; you don't mean the input/output hose barbs that come with the FTP unit because our Kleemann Blowers use a 1" hose barb for it's H/E plumbing (Cory confirmed that for me before I replaced my Kleemann H/E). What I did was remove the 3/4" barbs (this is the hose size for factory E55K/C32K H/E) and bought two 1/2" NPT to 1" hose barb from plumbingsupply.com.

##$## Update...
* FTP H/E shipped today...... ended up getting the clk model.
* Transmission jack arrived today. Time to get smart about trans installation.
* Found the very hard to find connector for the headlight level sending unit.... installed and working.

Waiting on spring compressor so I can remove springs and install new suspension.
Wating on h/e so I can wrap up the front bumper install.

Cranked up the next morning and all is well. I suppose the alternator got wet.
All the covers are missing on mine so this is to be expected.
Check your car for factory recalls My alternator was up-dated in 2005/6. The up-date might include a new regulator/brush assembly and harness for free.

That car is gonna be sharp,
Cheers, Gator
There is an service campaign open for the voltage regulator for the alternator for the CLK55 AMG
Campaign number 2005070017 repair 3
They replaced the original regulator with P/N 003-154-52-06.
Mine was replaced completed last week at MBZ of Sanford Fl. at no charge.

Pulling stock struts/springs tomorrow.
Found a nice DIY for strut consumables. Ordered new bushings, mount kit for strut installation. Should tighten up the ride.

https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...placement.html

Pulled struts/springs this AM:

Area all cleaned up ready for Koni's, HR Springs, and new strut bushings.

Strut Bushings were cracked pretty bad. New ones on order.

Mocking up rotors/caliper.....

Correct. When I had the Kleemann setup I cut the inlet/outlet off and welded a 1" bead rolled pipe onto the ends of the HE.

BB - thx for the tip..... I'll be doing the same as you. Cutting off the nipples and welding bigger nipples on.

Did you notice any improvement with the FTP h/e>??

No problem

I didn't use FTP. I did mine before MB companies were making upgraded HE's and before FTP existed lol
