2004 CLK55 Kleemann Build
These cars are so well built.... they are actually EASIER to work on than the domestics I've played with in the past.
Next steps:
* sand the rotora calipers, apply red caliper paint, and aftermarket AMG labels.
* clean up the rotors.
* Install new alternator,
* Install new radiator,
* Remove exhaust,
* Remove trans,
* Install long tubes.
* Change rear main seal.....
* Decide on if I really want a higher stall convertor..... (prob no).
* Reinstall trans fluid flush, new filter......
* Decide if I really need a new h/e...... the kleeman unit works fine.
* Install koni's, HR's, sways....
* Test fit face lift front clip..... then pull apart and have it painted.
* Black-out the headlap assy's.... reinstall.
Needless to say the garage has been commandeered by the clk for a few weeks.
Liking the plans. Looking forward to the results

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
* FTP H/E shipped today...... ended up getting the clk model.
* Transmission jack arrived today. Time to get smart about trans installation.
* Found the very hard to find connector for the headlight level sending unit.... installed and working.
Waiting on spring compressor so I can remove springs and install new suspension.
Wating on h/e so I can wrap up the front bumper install.
WOW there are some awesome battles going on at the top. LOL
It rained for about a week straight in Florida last month. I work @ night and use every amp possible to get there. The battery check came into view on the instrument cluster one night during the rain and the car started getting funky. I shut down 3 stereo amps and reduced to driving lights. defrost for emergency.
Cranked up the next morning and all is well. I suppose the alternator got wet.
All the covers are missing on mine so this is to be expected.
Check your car for factory recalls My alternator was up-dated in 2005/6. The up-date might include a new regulator/brush assembly and harness for free.
That car is gonna be sharp,
Cheers, Gator
Campaign number 2005070017 repair 3
They replaced the original regulator with P/N 003-154-52-06.
Mine was replaced completed last week at MBZ of Sanford Fl. at no charge.
Found a nice DIY for strut consumables. Ordered new bushings, mount kit for strut installation. Should tighten up the ride.

Pulled struts/springs this AM:
Area all cleaned up ready for Koni's, HR Springs, and new strut bushings.

Strut Bushings were cracked pretty bad. New ones on order.

Mocking up rotors/caliper.....

Looking great man.
Avo - thx, I really really like it in person. Can't wait to get it painted and add the fancy bits..... grills, fogs, trims.......... it's like christmas with each mod.
Did you notice any improvement with the FTP h/e>??
I didn't use FTP. I did mine before MB companies were making upgraded HE's and before FTP existed lol
