I'm looking to buy a Quaife QDF7V becuase I can't stand the 1 tire fire. I've never owned a car with such a lack of ability to put the power to the ground, even running good 265 rubber. Most of the ads for them don't list the CLK55, just the E55. Wanted to be sure we had the 210mm rear end.
Has anyone done a gear swap?

In my case a good set of extreme performance tires solved my traction issues. Since the CLK55 isn't a tight handler to begin with, I recommend only changing the rear tires to extreme performance and running a max performance front tire to help with wet traction.
I know we're running the same wheel sizes. The Dunlop Direzza Z2's solved my traction issues for a street car. They rubbed in the front from their wider tread footprint. I'm switching the front tires to same size narrower footprint Sumitomo HTRZ III.
This is for a spirited daily driver not race application right?
I'm interested in updates if you switch out your diff and what your results are like.

This PDF might become some use for those working differentials. no AMG but all the possibilities.
I have a 185/ 3:27 non LSD/Qualif lying about for grabs.
Beefstall is right about the tires, I had fresh Yokos on the front and installed Nittos on the rear. After Autocrossing several events The Yokos are blistered while the Nittos are ready for more.
Cheers, Gator

The 3:27 is a 185mm for 124/210 chassis, Was working on HP Turbo diesel back then. The gear case will fit 210mm with proper axle flange and side covers.
The 3:27 was not real streetable with a 722.5 4 speed but this TD would leave any 6 and some older v8 in the dark.
You should not have to tune for Gear ratio in most cases ECU.
I have never opened up our 5 speed but if there is a mechanical governor (as in most at) the TCU should recalibrate on its own after a reset during a gear change.
There is one post I know of that a wiseman from Texas installed the 5 speed behind the Diesel 3:27 diff. with a custom built programmer.
TCU/ECU Needs conformation/ VSS Vehicle speed sensor will be off/ Calibration reccomended
