I'm trying to find out if the 2008 CLK63 Cabrio had an LSD (doubtful) or if there was an optional OEM LSD?

Also, is there a media connector (ie ipod, usb, sd card, or straight headphone jack) for input? If so, is it standard or optional, and where is it located?

I'm close to buying one but I'm trying to sort these details.

Thanks.

This is from memory.

For USA there were only two options
1 - HID headlights - included headlight washers.
2 - Automatic truck closer button - lower left near headlight switch on dash board.

Don't believe LSD was factory installed.

Merc Benz Accessories sold after the sale an i-pod (or like) connector that installed in the passenger side glove box...also pretty sure they all came with the DC changer also in the glove box.
Lastly the telephone "puck" and setup was Merc Benz after the sale (located in the center console)....car was already wired for the puck install.

Ahh thanks. I found the ipod kits online, so I can follow up on them. Interesting that there were only 2 options. I guess with such a low production run it makes sense that they kept the build options down.

I spent a lot of time shopping before choosing a CLK 63. The options that I noticed would vary from car to car follow:

Keyless go
Nav
Vented Seats
Heated seats
Ipod integration
HC Logic 7 sound
Power trunk opener/closer
Burl wood interior
Parktronic
Rear sun shade (Canada)

I'm sure my list is not a complete one but I hope it is helpful. Feel free to contact me if you want to discuss the ups and downs of my buying process. I know the feeling of uncertainty, all too well, and the need to have every duck in a row before choosing the right car. Best of luck.

I've worked out a deal to buy one... is there a place I can use the vin to lookup all the factory options that it was built with?

Also, does someone know the specs for the IPOd/media adapter? Is it JUST an IPOD connector? Or does it have an SD adapter and/or an audio in jack?

Well, it is listed as a iPod Integration 'kit' so perhaps it comes with all that stuff. I don't know. A quick call to your dealer's partspeeps could provide an answer. Pretty sure my car doesn't have it.

There are a few websites that will VIN decode your car's options. Do a search. I may have the one for MBs somewhere on me home PC...stay tooned.

The ipod integration is a plug that comes out in the glove box. It charges the ipod and provides instant access to its content through the command system. Song titles are displayed inside the speedometer on the digital command display. Scrolling through songs is done via left upper steering wheel button controls with volume on the right.

The only caution I would make is that the current ipod technology is not compatible with the 2008 MB system. My ipod will not charge though it plays perfectly. I visited my local pawn shop and purchased a used unit that was an older model. It was inexpensive, fully loaded with music already, and completely compatible in all ways. Happy boy. No issues at all.

PM if you have specific questions. I have the owner's manual and can send pics of the system or manual content if you want

I have an 80GB ipod "brick" that's older than the car lol. guess I'll wipe it and load it special for the car. I was hoping to use swappable sd cards, but I guess that idea came later. The ipod will be cool though... 80gb is a crapload of music, it's just dealing with iTunes (or ANY apple software for that matter) that makes it nauseating.

Ipod integration kit is pretty easy to do yourself:

I am using an older 8Gb model, works fine (and charges)

hey... one question... Will the head unit / radio screen controls work the ipod? For example, so my GF can play with the thing while I drive?

You can only change the iPod from the steering wheel (so far as I can tell)
She can do NAV and other stuff while you play with the iPod.

Congratulations! Did you get the Easton PA car? I got a call about that beauty when it arrived at the dealer. If as described, the car was well cared for.

That's the one. It was originally from Willoughby Ohio, 3 years with the first owner, then it bounced around several dealers for a year and a half. The car is ultra clean.

It now lives with me in NYC (Queens). I hear there are a handful of them around the NY/NJ/CT area.

What do you do that you would get a call about the car?

I'm in Brooklyn several times a year, Clinton Ave. I 'almost' drove mine into the city this past Nov 1, but it was raining.

You have off-street parking yes? I hope !

No way in hell I would let any special car sit on the street in NYC. And no way in hell I'd let a convertible sit outside at all. I have a house w/ a "two car" garage.

"Two car" in NYC means you could theoretically get two cars into it if you don't mind climbing in and out through the open drivers side window. I was REALLY looking at a c63 507 sedan because the shorter doors would be nice and I like the new cockpit better. But I don't want to commit the $100k w/ sales tax... and a CLK63 Cabrio for under $40k was too sweet to resist ;-)

Now I have to sell my Aprilia SXV to make room in the garage.

For 6 months I searched high and low for just the right CLK 63. It had to be an '08 fully loaded one owner with very low miles. I know, a tall order, but they had one in Easton PA so I made the drive out there in my 430. (Any excuse would have prompted that drive)

To my greatest disappointment, when I arrived, the new owner had just cut a check for the car...the ink was still wet; I missed the car because I failed to make a deposit before driving out to inspect it. The salesman understood my frustration and I was clear that I wanted first shot at the next car if it was in impeccable condition.

I found my perfect fit since then. I'm delighted you got that car.

I play billiards in Flushing from time to time (Carom Cafe) and would be glad to get together. Manchester CT is a mid point for us both so hopefully a northest CLK 63 gathering is in our future. I'm prepping the car for hibernation now. With the threat of 1st snow she will be garaged for the winter.

I've put 1.6K miles on the car in the last 2 weeks and it has been pure magic. Enjoy

Is there a scissor door conversion in your future?

I'm not the biggest fan of burl wood, but for this car, the sophisticated version of what a Mustang could, should, can only dream of being, the burl wood somehow feels perfect.

I absolutely love the analog clock. Very elegant touch.

And the seat belt "presenter". Like a car butler. "Your seat belt, sir." lol
