part# for w209 CLK55 to CLK63 front end

Hi guys & gals,

I'm new to the forum as I bought an 05 CLK55 amg vert about 3 months ago.
sadly about a month ago someone hit me in a bar parking lot and decided that he was not going to leave a note (I already know what car it was, im just waiting to see it again).
my insurance doesn't really care either way and cut me a check for 3.6K to get everything fixed and nice looking again.

SO I'd like to do a CLK63 front bumper conversion. I've searched this forum over and over and cant seem to get a straight answer on which parts to order, thus my starting this thread.

here is what I got from the dealer after I supplied him with some basics:
bumper: 209-885-53-25 $1560
garnish: 209-885-09-21 $72
garnish: 209-885-10-21 $72
center grill: 209-885-06-53 $371
side grill: 209-885-07-53 $205
side grill: 209-885-08-53 $205

So, Can anyone confirm and or refute these part numbers?
and second, will I need the fog light assembly as well? is it different from the Clk55 to CLk63?
and lastly....why in the world are the grills so ridiculously expensive....its a bunch of crisscrossed wires! (and more importantly, can I get them somewhere for cheaper than that exorbitant amount of money)?

any help is appreciated. I saw that a couple people had this done already so I'm hoping someone will know the answer.

thanks

CJ

best of luck to you - I also looked at this option but abandoned after added up the cost of parts, labor and paint :/

yea its not cheap but id rather do it while I have that $3600 check from my insurance.... I'll probably only have to add another $400-600 on top of that which is my deductible anyway.

actually, if someone has a clean w209 clk55 amg front bumper I could definitely consider buying it off them too.... thats kind of the other option, then I can spend the rest of the money I got on some other goodies for my clk.
So if someone does have one feel free to hit me up.

I got a file with all the necessary parts. PM me an email address if you want it.

You will need pretty much everything with the exception of the shock absorber stuff behind the bumper. Supposedly the 05 fits but I haven't tried it myself. The fog lights are different.

Ok I added everyone who requested. If anyone needs this in the future just send me a PM. Keep in mind guys that the list is for an 04.

There is also conflicting information out there on what parts fit starting with 05+. For example the 05+ with AMG is supposed to use the same energy absorbers as the 63 but I have not verified this.

There are also issues with the fender liners. Supposedly 04 needs the 05+ fender liners but I had no issues using my 04 liners with the 63 bumper. I think the people who complained about that forgot to order all the parts. The 63 bumper uses some plastic adapters that bolt to it in order to correctly attach the fender liners. That's my guess.

Also, a lot of the bolts etc can be reused as well as some brackets. However, there's no way to know what can be reused until you take everything apart. I didn't want to take any chances so I ordered everything listed in EPC

Edit - Forgot to mention you'll also need a rivet gun to attach the bumper cover to the bumper bracket. So yes, you need the rivets listed on the parts list.
