W208 track car build
#176
for suspension i was going to go with custom penske 8300 DA but had too many other things to sort out. i probably should have just focused on that instead of the engine as car was fast as is. thats the only remaining performance thing i want to do to the car.

another update, finally got car ready and with covid have not had chance to hit the track this year. spending more time these days getting car ready then actually driving it. lol not what i had in mind with this build but getting close to the finish line. i should hopefully have a dyno run soon to see if the p&p heads, 78mm tb, and 11cr pistons were worth it.
for now, i got the following done...
1) installed front and rear strut bars. original rentech box was too big, so replaced it with clk320 box modified additional 4inch inlet to get more air in (bar will be painted black).

2) widened fenders using an old school amg trick - also gave bumper csl treatment, closed off one of the fog light holes and used the other one to connect 4inch intake hose

p&p heads from c55, with valve job and bronze guides. going with double valve springs to increase redline to 7k. also got set of arp head studs, not really needed for me but plan to rebuild engine at some point with lighter and higher compression pistons. figured why not get them now. i plan to dyno car next month, hope to share results with you guys then. ahh also got TB ported to 77mm, hopefully these open up engine up top.

strong e55! will post dyno numbers when i have them, but i dont care too much about that. how she performs at the track is what matters most to me. i actually was trying to get dyno tune last month but had mechanical issues (lifters were bad after rebuild!)

How did you mount your seats, can you send pics. DM. Do you have Instagram? I just ordered the same seats, they are still in customs ;(.
Also who did your heads and how much, if I can ask? Did they flow them before and after, or did you get a reading for what the factory heads flow?

measured and they are the same 16in 1/4 by 16in. May look into the PLM brackets with sliders, vivid racing has a passenger side bracket for 50$ usually 140$, and has a drivers side for 140. I can’t remember the brand of those. Just wish customs would hurry up!

looks very good! i think i had to bend the rear tab as well, glad it worked out for you. it was great find by blackbenz, one of the easiest and probably top fav mods.
btw i'm on IG @benzlegendz, work in progress...

MSC (moscow supercharged) headers finally here, they look good. they were extremely well packaged and came with necessary hardware. will have detailed write up on this after install when i can comment on fit and performance gain.

I am definitely interested in these. The price wasn’t too bad if they work well. Quant can you share the info on the Penske shocks and Swift springs? That is something our cars need bad! I wondered how the KW springs did with the stiffer springs as well. Thanks man! Love watching this build. JF

honestly KW V2 are great, only worth going to something else if you track car a lot and use sticky tires.
with that said, i'm using my V2 dampers with swift springs. they are around 100-150 stiffer than the KW springs. right now i'm around 800lb front and 650lb rear, but would like something little stiffer. i used to have local race shop that builds penske dampers look into building me set but they moved and they never got chance to build one for me. i will either wait for them or just go KW for competition set. i have another baby on the way in cpl months, outside of handful track events i dont see myself hitting track that often this year. the dampers might just have to wait.

yeah those guys are great, was looking into them for ITB & CF air box for my 190e 16v. i have big goals for all my cars just no time anymore. for dampers i prefer to have someone local or with experience with w208 platform as it will take couple of iterations to get setup right and require some periodic maintenance.

Just installed my strongflex rear subframe bushing last night.
