WOW!!! looks awesome Quant! Where is the shop you're getting all this done? may just have them do the exact same thing to mine. Ended up getting a '19 S4 so the benz has fallen a bit to the wayside. But...I am still interested in getting my hands on the V2's so I will take those rear springs ASAP as mine have cracked lol. Hope as is well, congrats on the newborn! Did you end up doing dif mounts as well?
its been a while, as usual life and unexpected challenges slow things down. got interior setup with full carbon fiber from OCARBON. great quality, highly recommend to all. will post more pics in new thread with review etc...
yep, shoot me pm if you need more info on this. i'm going to penske soon. trying to figure out so many things! this time next year it should be all sorted
Great Stuff Quant.
i was away from the forums for awhile, but ive still been autocrossing mine and doing track days here and there.
Im gonna try and be more competitive in SCCA STX autocross class next year. we have a healthy class (5-7 cars per event) in the south bend region (not my local region of SCCA but its worth he drive for more competition).
Anyways, im always right there with the guy that has won the class points championship the past 3 years, he has a BR-Z/FR-S that he has build pretty well for STX class spec. I think i need to do the Quaife LSD install to get me over the hump and take the title from him next year. I beat him every so often but not enough, im usually 2nd in points end of season.
anyways, any pointers on the Quaife LSD install? ill be researching more over the winter and plan to try and have it done early springtime.
let me know if you ever lay down some times at Gingerman, Grattan, Mid Ohio, or Blackhawk farms road courses in the midwest, i have done track days at all of those in my CLK.
hi, i recommend you reach out to Birds UK about parts and install. there is some modification that needs to be done and they are the only ones that provide parts. i can look up details if you need it, but problem is that axles used to stay connected to the diff via a c-clip. moving to quaife makes it closed diff and hence need something else to keep axles from slipping out. it was actually a big headache to get it to work but not it seems to be holding up pretty well. other than this, the quaife unit has been awesome. i noticed difference right away! good luck in your racing! feel free to pm if you need more info. we can also compare notes on setting up car etc...
Do you have more interior photos of the carbon interior?
How much did it cost to re-wrap to carbon looks?
What are the gauges below the sterio?
Are they OEM from factory?
Short gear lever does it fit non tip-transmissions from 1997 to 1999?
sure will post up better quality pics on interior when i'm back home in a cpl of weeks. the trim is actually not a wrap but an actualy CF piece. OCARBON did work, and they are the best at it. they strip away the wood trim and lay CF sheets to replace it. result is honestly as good as most oem pieces i have seen!
the shifter is from clk BS, to install it you have to modify the shaft. there are cpl ways to do it but not that difficult.
gauges are not oem, i dont remember brand but they are generally very similar in size. i needed custom panel to make it fit right, but that not difficult either.

Sent you a DM on here to discuss more.
but im wondering for the sake of this thread - what about the wavetrac option? assuming the same issue would exist there.
hope you talk to you about it more offline - i get really scared by things that 'may not be as reliable as OEM', but this would still be reverse compatible if we wanted to go back to OEM diff? or its really hard to go back again?
not sure if they made wavetrac for our car. honestly my advice is to go blackbenz route and put w209 diff housing and custom axles. you will have more options for lsd and gearing. i'm very happy with my lsd but i did take me a couple of tries to get it right. best bet is contact birds UK, they are very helpful and knowledgeable
p&p heads from c55, with valve job and bronze guides. going with double valve springs to increase redline to 7k. also got set of arp head studs, not really needed for me but plan to rebuild engine at some point with lighter and higher compression pistons. figured why not get them now. i plan to dyno car next month, hope to share results with you guys then. ahh also got TB ported to 77mm, hopefully these open up engine up top.
Thank you for posting. They look beautiful. This is something along with larger cams that I hope to do in the future. With how cheap these engines are why not pick one up and just fully build it out?
thanks! i just picked up clean set of slk55 higher compression pistons to do my rebuild. so going after a full rebuild after all... not that the car needs it i have to admit
was going to go higher than 11:1 CR but weistec doesn't recommend it for the m113 engine so decided to go with this. my calc is that i will only pick up 6-10hp from this, so not major improvement.
Love this build, been lurking since way back when. This thing is going to sound amazing revving to 7k! Also love it since there are not many people who see the potential in these cars. I think I fantasize about w208 clk dtm cars almost every other day. Planning on getting a clk55 myself soon and swapping in a manual trans in just like my E55 in the hopes to build a semi track car-ish.

for brake fluid? its motul rbf600. i'm starting to use mobil 5w-50 this year, will let you know how it works out but i had success in the past with 0w-40 just figured to give this a try as it might be better suited for track conditions.
i dont believe they provided before and after flow chart, i guess dyno would be best indicator of how car is running. currently having issues after rebuild, need to sort that out first.
