Anyone here have any experience with a Eurocharged ECU flash?

I just purchased one for my 209 clk55 and I was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts to share about its performance. They advertise 25 hp and 22 ftlb of torque, which i am assuming is without any other mods (which is my case with exception to high flow air filters). Thanks in advance for any responses.

I have their ECU tune on my CLK500. It's been great so far, I really like it.

ok great, thanks kb. did you get an oppurtunity to store/save your factory tune prior to installing theirs? I have only used a diablo sport before on a previous car so the process of getting emailed a tune is new to me.

BTW, nice looking car.

Yeah the process is fairly simple. You plug in the cable they send you into your car and plug the other end into your Windows PC. You download your stock file and send it to Eurocharged and within a few hours they send you the tune (it's a .EUC) file. You then select that to flash and it'll ask you whether you want stock or tuned. That's how you have both options of stock and tuned.

TMJ, let us know how it works out for you. I'd like to know any downside to a tune. Likewise any noticeable upside.
Thanks!

Have an 04 clk55 and ran a 05 with an OE tune and I actually pulled on the tuned car. (Won't call out any names )

Unless you pair it with headers I don't think these shelf tunes are worth it IMO.

I tuned my previous 05 and I swear it was slowed....

Hey guys, I installed the tune yesterday so I havent had much time behind the wheel but I wanted to post my experience thus far.

First off, this was more of an impulse buy then planned ( the tune was on sale for an amazing price, thanks Eurocharged!). Only "mods" I have on the car are K&Ns which believe it or not did help, but that was bc of the state of the airbox when I bought it (see pics below). The actual tuning process was different then anything I have used before (canned diablosport tunes on an older HEMI) but they were quick to answer any questions and after sending them my factory tune I had my eurocharged tune ready for install by lunch the next day.

Anyway, as was said in some posts above, headers and a more free flowing exhaust would go a long way with improving performance with this tune. Because I havent done anything like that...yet ...My expectations were not that high and I more or less did this bc I wanted to do something and the price was right. I also thought by purchasing their tune now I could update (for a nominal fee) it as I improve my vehicle. I have not verified that is the case yet though

Enough of the palaver, my thoughts on the tune thus far: HOLY ISH! First thing I noticed is how much improved the throttle response is now...amazing! Not that it was bad before but it is immediate now. This alone makes me very happy and has very much improved the driving experience.

They advertise about a 25 hp gain and 22 lbs or torque, but I had no intention of paying $150 for a dyno to see the results of a $300 tune so I can not attest to any real world gains. What I can say is that the car "feels" much quicker. A sceptic may chalk this up to the placibo effact, but man this thing takes off now and it is instantaneous and deer gawd...it pulls all the way until you take your foot off the accelerator. I am not sure I really can acturally express how much faster the car feels. For the price, I doubt there is really anything out there that I could have done to match this.

The only knock so far (and I will update this if there are any new concerns) is with the tune installation process. when I finished installing my tune their software stated "it was finished but some of the files were not properly updated, a reflash was required or I risked bricking my ecu"......the written/printed instructions that came with the obdII cord accounted for this and instructs the user to just ignore this messege and press the red "X" in the corner to close it. I feel that is a giant leap of faith for the end user to have to make and I would suggest they update their software to fix this. That said, I followed the written instruction and have not had any issues with the tune so far.

Thanks for all the responses and best of luck to anyone who also goes this route.

Steve

2002 CLK 55 AMG cabriolet Eurocharged
I did a Eurocharged Tune and very pleased.

Stock tune and stock exhaust yielded wonderful performance as expected from a car of this nature.
I decided to explore the potential of the beast so to speak and installed headers. The stock tune would not accept the increased air flow and performance dropped dramatically.
After the tune torque and acceleration were awesome scary. I have not floored it yet from a stop also pulling hard in the twisties will break the tires loose.
There a lot of tuners out there but Eurocharged was my choice as well.

Best, Gator

Glad to hear you got great results. I felt the immediate throttle response and the extra "oomph" even on my 500; I can't imagine the fun you 55 guys are having!

TMJ, thanks for the feedback. Sounds like something I want to do as well. Eurocharged is showing 800.00 for their tune, so sounds like you got a whale of a deal. If they have another sale I'd definitely jump on it.

I'd be interested to know if your mileage is impacted (not that we own these cars for their mileage .

No prob guys. it is worth it, even at a higher price (although $700 is kind of steep). At the few websites that I have seen advertise tunes for our car, prices have been between $600-$1200, so there is definitely value here. when they have another sale I will be jumping on their TCU tune.

I verified today with Eurocharged that they will update the tune file after any mod and charge $35.00 for sending the updated tune. A great service!

I did the Eurocharged tune to my 01 CLK55 as well. I love it. I will be putting it on the dyno next Saturday to see how much things actually changed. After that, I will be getting it fine tuned by a tuner here in Rochester that has done things with Eurocharged in the past. He got 12 extra horsepower out of a Crossfire that had a Eurocharged tune on it. I am excited to see what he can do with my car. I will post results when it is done.
