You can find the D630 on E-bay from 50-100.
cheers
For myself though, I just stick with my old Actron CP9175. I've had it for 10 years and it's still working like a champ. Almost wish it would break so I had an excuse to get a new one. Though at 10 years old it's actually 4 years newer than the car so I guess it's more than up to the task

If you want a tool that looks at most everything and allows you to adjust settings, then you need XENTRY DAS. Also you need to know how to use it... and need to be careful to keep it from being bricked. You are looking at about US 1500 for 12/15 software kit.

My car is a 2002 It is CD technology, the newer cars are like yours are DVD.
I was able to access the command system and perform a lot of tests, did not look for upgrades. Once I get into the micro-controller of the system there are several options for changing things.
I am sure the software looks different for newer models as there are more bits to work with. I will have to write that down next time I log into the car.
Carsoft was on my wishlist and is reasonable alot less than C-4/C-5. The Carsoft is limited to 2003 nothing more. Strong though as it has been around for a while
I picked up a Delphi driven dongle that worked really well on a 01 cougar we have, I ordered the 38 pin for my curiosity.
Both less than $100.00
After 2005 things start getting tricky as the Internet of Things start joining automobiles.
Early MOST systems are released.
I researched the Carly and the dongle was a bit pricey for Benz. The BMW version was worth the price
I am getting carried away and gotta sleep.
Enjoy, Gator

use at your own risk. I am still a Carsoft fan no issues with generic C-4 yet.

I bought a Dell D630 on Ebay with some upgrades, It had Win-7 and more Ram and HD. $100.00. You can get others for $50.00. Loaded Delphi software for the rest of the cars around the house.
When I work on my own just slide the C-4 xentry hard disk in. It is loaded with XP that you do not want online these days.
Cheers

is still on my wish list but i really do not need it now

I'm also looking at the Carsoft 7.4 Is it different to say the;
Mercedes Benz iCarsoft i980 OBD OBD2 Car Diagnostic Scanner Tool?
I assume the carsoft 7.4 needs a laptop and the one above is a self-contained unit but is that the only difference. I'm looking to clear an airbag light on my W220 but I also own a CLK W208 so I would want to use it on that as well...
cheers

Xentry is very powerful in terms of ECU conditioning. It requires some extensive knowledge of automotive behavior. I am still learning but fully comprehend what my ECU is telling me and what I want it to do.
some say you will brick your ECU and better believe it is possible.
No on the town taquilaering shots at the strip club. If you do not understand ECU go basic.
My 2 cents or $10 in tampa on friday night.
Not
The Carly app is android/mac driven from a smart phone will get the basics done.
Most OBD2 read/write require laptop for convenience. It depends on how deep you want to dig into the cars history.
Plus your budget on a scan tool. I can think of $5.00 to $50,000 right now.

How about the carsoft MI6? The older 7.4 seemed popular, but outdated (and I guess mostly clones being sold). I had actually ordered a iCarsoft MBII and it arrived DOA so it was returned for a refund (seller had no more inventory). That got me thinking that I probably wanted something more anyway.
I have full VCDS for VW/Audi (not a knockoff) and want something close for Mercedes. I own a 09 SLK300 and work on a '11 ML350 and a 09C300. There is a good chance that other, newer models will be coming to me once the word is out that I'm branching to other German vehicles.
I read countless reviews - which mostly seemed like advertisements for once specific product. I want something that will read/clear and do some adaptations that is not a knock-off. That seems to leave me with the actual MB star system, but the yearly subscription is little steep (this is just a weekend hobby) and the carsoft MI6. It's a little pricey at 365euros, but well cheaper than a full star system.

Any feedback would be appreciated
The MI6 sounds great but also a gamble.

I'll keep looking to see if anyone is using the latest MI6. Thanks!
