do you guys know if the stock airbox assembly will bolt right onto a 430? i got quoted $590 for the airbox, 2 hoses and the cover plate from the dealer...but before i buy it, i just want to make sure that it will fit properly.

You must trim the cover to fit/clear via dremel

Did anyone actually dyno the CLK55 airbox on the CLK430 or do they think it made more HP?
Yes The CLK was on a Dyno ...Two runs...One with the stock air box with stock air filters....Then another run with the AMG air box and Tubes with K/Ns...
The AMG air Box is Different!..Different Part Numbers...
Once you have a look at them You Can See The Difference!

I was the first one poo-pooing it as a looks only upgrade until I actually took a look at the two boxes apart. I then proceeded to take my foot out of my mouth.

113-090-01-01 air cleaner
113-090-03-82 Hose (2 of these)
113-010-05-67 cover plate
everything will just bolt right onto my 430? except the minor dremmelling?

FYI, you only need to buy three parts - the cover plate is optional and only needed for the "cool" factor.

I've heard reliable sources say that the box has been dynoed and yielded more along the lines of 20hp.

I think the gain of 20hp was only for the box. The filters with the box yielded an additional 5

dunno yet. my car's up on jackstands right now until my next mod is finished.
I started it up though and the exhaust note sounds different already.
I eventually plan on forced induction but I couldn't pass up the deal I got on the box so I decided to put it on for now :0)
