CLK55 oil usage
Hello all, I've got a CLK55 2005 W209 model with 98,000 on the clock. It's a weekend car and I've covered 3000 miles in the last year. My question is roughly how much oil should I be topping it up with? I'm putting 1 litre every 6ish weeks depending on how it's driven. Thanks in advance.

The cats suck up a fair bit of oil smoke so they dont tend to smoke until they really burn a lot of oil.
Are you actually putting a litre in every 350 miles?

Oh right. To be honest I haven't actually recorded the miles to oil but I will from now as I put a litre in today. This is my first merc coming over from bmw so I haven't got a massive amount of knowledge on these cars so any help is much appreciated. Cheers.

1 litre per month is the rule for a daily driver.
Any car that sits for long periods can easily develop a leak especially when stored outdoors.
When the car sits for long periods the oil is essentially not oil anymore but a condensate collection pit.
If you are topping off after storage it is normal. Might give it a service and report back again if there is no leak evident.

The headings at our names do not show demographics anymore or car type.
But with oil that sits in constant humidity like where I live requires top maintenance intervals.
Ocean, Sea, Gulf and London Fog air will wrench away on sitting oil. Once the moisture is built up in the oil so much it burns off along with the oil.
Short trip driving where the engine never gets loaded under normal operating temp will load the oil up with condensate as well.
The later is not normally an issue with AMG engines though. We make a sizable amount of KW/HP per Litre
To add oil mixed with water in harmony of combustion creates form of hydrachloric acid which eats away at bearing babbit.
