Almost 2 years and no oil change!

My car will be 2 years old in april of 2005. I have aproximately 11K miles on it. I have not taken her in for any service yet....nothing! The FSS says I still have about 3K miles before service is due. I'm starting to wonder how long can that synthetic oil go without changing?
What would you guys do? Should I wait till after winter and get her serviced before the FSS? What the hell right? It won't cost me a dime, and I want her to last!

Mercedes will change the oil if it's been a year regardless of the milage. I change mine every 5000 even if I have to pay for it.

Nope. Not anymore they won't....

Thought the same thing for my 03 CLK cab, and they would not change it on the annual basis. Checked the book, and they were right, it would only be changed for free when the FSS says its due. However, I don't think this came into effect until 03 models. Mine was also nearly 2 years, just over 9k miles.

Well....I know its been too long, but awhile ago I asked the service rep at my dealership and he said the computer will tell me when its time. I will call him this week and ask him if it will be free. Let you guys know the scoop.

Well I talked with my service rep and he said if I want mercedes to pay for it, then I have to wait until the computer tells me its time. He said it can go up to 24 months. Is he full of it? Maybe? Do I want Mercedes to pay for it? Hell yeah!
I hope that oil lasts.

Stiggs,

How long are you planning on keeping the car?

Actually free sounds a lot better than over $100 for an oil change.
I dunno....what do you think?

In all honesty...I really don't know. Maybe until the warranty is up. Maybe three or four more years. Not sure.
I think I know what you are thinking though...if I plan on keeping the car "forever", then I should change the oil every so many miles.
I just hate to pay for something that really should be free. Would the service rep really lie about the 24 months thing? He has been pretty good to me and my family in the past.

Up to you. I've seen other threads where the oil was fine after XXXX miles, but the concern was whether the filter was up to the 2-year task.

I changed mine at 1500, 5000, 10000 and 15000. I didn't want to keep the "break in" oil in there for 10000 miles. I guess you know what I would do in your shoes.

I guess you don't have to worry about buying it because its an 03 not an 05.
Nice try

Ok...after what everyone said I know that Its been way too long. I called MBUSA to see what they thought of no service in 2 years. The rep on the phone gave me the name of the head guy at my dealership and said to talk to him and have them servoce the car for free. All I had to do was drop the head dude's name and that I called MBUSA and they were all like....when can you bring it in?
So I will finally be changing the oil next Friday.
I feel alot better knowing it will be changed especially since my engine sounds funny lately.

2022 E350 Cabriolet
We just picked up a new CLK500 Cab 2 weeks ago.
The dealership here in NZ changes out the oil on all the new cars it delivers during the Pre Delivery check.
Our sales rep said the factory run the engines for a number of hours before shipping.
Knowing that it is now new oil (Mobil 1 synthetic) I will not worry about changing it until the computer tells me to.
Would have been real concerned to leave the original oil in there for up to 2 years though!

You should have already done an (A) service at 5K miles and a (B) service at 10K miles. My dealer did the (A) at 5K and the (B) at 7K since the car is stored 6 months they go by time rather than mileage in my case...

All the dealer said is to wait until the computer tells me to get the service.

My car is a 2003 with the FSS system. I gues the 2005 models have set intervals now.

Wow, thats wierd. Check to make sure the dude or dudette u talked to isn't new or something. They are wrong, you should be getting your services done at these intervals. Its been that way for years... The FSS is just meant to be. Mine has an oil quality sensor, and even tho it says (OK) they still change the oil at those mile intervals...

Two yrs running on MB filter and Mobil syn oil is crazee IMOP.I dont care what the dealer says that's in sane.Cheaper insurance to change everything together every 3-5k miles.F/I engine beats the oil down even more than a N/A motor with more heat so I'd go every 3k .That's how often I change the oil on all of my cars.Stay on top of the tranny fluid service as well.

Just an update.....brought it in for service and the dealership told me that so much time has gone by that it was due for the B service. Dealership told me to bring it in every year from now on even if the computer doesn't say so.
All of a sudden they had a change of heart?
