the BS/gt3 would be for running errands, going to work, hauling *** to monterrey/golf...etc...i live in the SF bay area so 280, 101, 85, 880, 680 i am always on and there are plenty of places to get your goat on.

my Z06 is not up to the task anymore. plenty fast/handling/brakes...awesome. buts its just another chevy. the interior, the seats, forget it. its hot in the summer, anything over 80F and you have to run the A/C or your legs cook. i love the car.

the euro hot-rods are just a bit more civilized. problem is finding one thatll keep up with this beast.

couple questions.

1. auto tranny. is it ok guys? tell me. this is the hardest thing for me to swallow. i would much rather have an SMG unit that matches revs. i have a 2005 E55. if the BS shifts like it does, then i may not be happy.

if you are going deep and hard on brakes, few clicks of the paddle, what happens? will the tranny just downshift without matching revs? if so thatll be funky, i mean, its a race car right.

2. what about the new c class body. will the BS show up next year wearing a new suit. its 350 cars and thats it. i know that question cant be answered.

and yes, the dreaded sunroof. ive never seen so many guys get their panties in a bunch. we take what they give us and we like it and ask for more.
The engine does not blip on a downshift. I havn't been to the track yet, but in limited spirited street driving, paddle downshifts are quick but not immediate.
Personally, I don't think it is an issue at all, as downshifting is always under heavy braking, and in that circumstance, I don't feel the rear getting unsettled. All the downshifting gets doen under braking, so it isn't like a tip in street driving where you might get 2 of the 3 desired gears to drop.

The sport mode really holds your gear very aggressively. This is MUCH more so than a Porsche Tip will do, unless you are turning consecutive hot laps in the Porsche.
The black is much more fun to drive in traffic than my ttX50, tho the ttX50 is quicker above 90 (at least feels that way). The Porsche (and the ZO6) feel a little 'squishy" compared to the BS. The Porsche is just softer, the ZO6 seems to have more rubber in the bushings.
My special interest is street-licensed race cars, and there, the BE seems the best compromise to date.
Re sunroof: I have them on a bunch of cars, and never use them, so it's a non-issue to me.
Re body style: Who knows? I am guessing there won't be a new style Black for a long time, if ever. From inside, the only thing I miss is the bluetooth wiring. AS

First of all, the stupid azz sunroof question...who cares ??? What idiot looks up while driving anyway ? Sunroofs are just another source of ventilation in my opinion. Put the friggin windows down.
If you can't find one to drive, take a trip to LA and you can drive mine. You'll love it. You're questions...no, it doesn't blip the throttle to rev match during downshifts. It's a torque converted tranny and takes a second to grab the next lower gear...lame, I know...but theres a fix coming soon. As soon as the C63 is out, I'll have the programming for the 7 G tronic Plus (that's what MBZ is calling it). Nothing mechanically different, just programming. Upshifts however are neck snapping if executed properly....the BS really does shift seamlessly.
The 209 body is the only BS that I have heard will be made as it's roots are in F1 being the safety car. Rumors abound about an SL, but that's all they are, rumors. If you can afford it, get one. You will not be disappointed.

The reason the BS is so well mannered under heavy braking is because of the excellent locking dif in the rear. Next time you are mid turn in first gear, upshift to second and plant your right foot and you'll understand what I mean. It gives new meaning to "point and shoot".

BTW - I just installed the GMG heat spacers on my car - HUGE difference. Intake temps (measured with an infared thermometer) are down significantly, at least 35 degrees. During stop and go traffic, the motor runs much cooler and smoother. I guarantee there is at least 10-15 hp increase. Doing a dyno run this weekend after a little "programming"

good grief ...i think im sold

thanks for the info guys..it really helps.

i was concerned about the rear end becoming unsettled from the torque converter locking down on a downshift without the corresponding rev match.

sounds like its a non issue. i hear the bmw smg3 is no better. only the ferrari works right.

Going to return my c55 after 4 year lease in 2 months.
I am also trying to decide between a C63 or CLK BS.

That is my car, and I have been driving it. Perfect in every way, I have something new that is "inbound"; and that is the reason for sale.

Less than 5000 miles in one year of ownership

No stories or no worries with this car, a great deal for someone. The friendly Dealer listed it for me so I would not have to deal with tire kickers and test drives etc.

Biased as I am, this car is a steal!

sweet car......based on the market of the cars just sold, and with 5000 miles on yours, you are a bit off, but close.

Fickleone, thanks for letting me know.
Considering this BS is just $28k more than a new c63. It is a good price. Of course, I don't mind catching it for a few k less.
May I ask if the car has been tracked? BTW do you think they can do a starmark certified pre-own? Too bad I don't have time to go across the bridge to check it out till next week.
Cheers

This post is so funny since one year later you can buy a new one for $50K off MSRP. It must really hurt for anyone that bought one at or above MSRP. WOW

Why would you say this?....even if just trying to insult a car salesman, you also insulted the buyers who paid MSRP or close to it? What did u just accomplish with the "hating"?....i can only think it was some sort of self-satisfaction from the gloat? There are so many other things that should bring joy to your life.

Out of curiosity, where can one find a BS for $50k off of the msrp at 138k? I have not seen one brand new nearing this price range - plenty of used for that price though.

Only idiots buy new 100k-plus cars thinking they won't tank. It's a hobby not a career choice so only the stupid punching above their weight are left licking their wounds. The rest of us just have fun. You could do with looking after your own affairs rather than prying into those of others.

+10,000 I got into the discussion with people on here a year ago...and yes low mileage used examples can be had for $90k or about 30% less than MSRP. Too many of you guys get caught up in the numbers game, you here $40-$50k less than MSRP and you think OH MY GOD!. I've said the following on here before and I will say it again, name another 2008 vehicle that has not taken a 28%-33% hit in the past 12 months? I don't care if you are talking about a $14,000 Kia or an Aston Martin DB9 the loss in value is similar if you look at the percentage, don't belive me, go to Edmunds at take a look for yourselves. Some American cars retail for 45-50% less than MSRP in one year.

I prepped to buy an SL Black Series here shortly and I'm sure the same thing is going to happen...here's a news flash for a couple of you guys, cars are not good investments

The only one hurting is you, because you don't have a Black Series. I hope you never buy one either. Lets face it, it's not the right car for you at any price. Period.

I think SL2003driver is just completely misinformed or possibly very ignorant. Anyone making general statements like this really should think twice about coming back to this forum. I've been on here long enough to see that many here are true enthusiasts that really care about one thing - the enjoyment of their vehicles. Please SL2003driver, before you make anymore smartass remarks, please think it over first.

Damn guys you sure took that post out of context. My comment was that it was funny how when the BS came out someone was being told that you could not buy one even for MSRP, when now you can buy them for close to $90K with a few miles on them. I was not saying someone was stupid for paying MSRP or even more then MSRP I was indicating how that does "hurt" when your car takes a hit like that. My SL listed for over $100K 10 months ago and it is now worth $30K less, that "HURTS". I am going to try and get the BS for $90K or around $20K difference from my SL. Which should give me a more fun car at a great price. Kind of like owning Ford motor co. stock at $40 per share and buying more at $10 per share, price averaging. So guys lighten up and don't read such negative things into my posts. I am also a crazy car guy that knows that cars are not a great investment and I am not calling any of you stupid, if I did i would also be calling myself stupid.
