Dragstrip results at ATCO of leaving it in "S"

the CLK63 BS went a best 12.115 at 117.36 mph 1/4 mile with a 7.863 at 92.18 mph 1/8 mile on it's best run. Had a total of six runs in the 12.1's and that's with the stock Corsa tires and letting the trans shift by itself in sport. Best times where had by leaving the line at 1000 rpm and just flooring it. Had a lot of positive comments about how good... the car sounds going through the gears.

I believe Mercedes says our cars run 12.6 in the 1/4 mile, anybody else see that number posted somewhere.?

Did you encounter any wheel hop on your runs? Have you adjusted the shocks?

Thanks again for getting to a track and showing the 63 capabilities. You will go sub 12 seconds simply by heating your r comps a little more.

I heard your car in Los Angeles it sounded so good!!! Wish we had some video of that incredible machine..

Great runs, is this your first time at the "drag strip" obviously it is in your BS.

I have updated the data base and dragtimes.com

Strong numbers there!!! Were you the same BS that was running with this M6 vert?

Post from the M6 Board and link:

Link to M6 Board Conver Quarter Mile Times

Ajcut7 1/4 mile times

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The car:

07 M6 Cab
Eisenmann exhaust
evo pulley
AA software

I will take pics of the slips during the week but here are the stats for my best two runs. Unfortunately I was only there for like two hours as I had to be back in the city and I really think I could have done a bit better as I kept having take off issues.
--------- M6 --- M6 - --- CLK63blackseries
R/T --- .408 --- 1.398 --- -1.07
60' --- 2.088 --- 2.05 --- 1.913
330 --- 5.486 --- 5.489 --- 5.217
1/8 --- 8.167 --- 8.188 --- 7.916
MPH --- 91.79 --- 90.65 --- 91.69
1000 -- 10.469 --- 10.492 --- 10.240
1/4 -- 12.394 --- 12.421 --- 12.195
MPH --- 118.31 --- 118.14 --- 118.7

I happened to have lined up with an awesome CLK 63 black edition so his times were on my slip and I figured I would post for comparison, was pretty cool racing one and only just barely losing. Also if he didnt jump the light he would have been barely ahead of me the whole time as opposed to the two car lengths he got due to the R/T

did you run a higher trap than 117???????This has to be you how many BS could possibly be running on the same day?

I need all your slips man , looks like more records than I ever imagined on one day. Please post your highest trap speeds in the 1/8th and 1/4 I would like to add more than just your best ET.

Wow , 117 was about what I thought the top was stock, now I am looking at a 118 mph trap?????

Yes I did run a M6 Convertible but got in the staging lights late and wasn't really ready when they came down and loss my starting line concentration.

On that run... the car went.... and went too soon....
12.195 sec 118.70 mph 1/4 with 7.916 sec 91.69 mph 1/8 mile and 60' 1.913 time.

I think that's when the wind died down for a short time guys.

Jimmy,

I haven't touched anything on the car and had the tires set at 48 front and 42 rear, I did clean the tires good before pulling up to stage. Had no wheel hop to speak about.

These time slips we got are lousy and almost to light to photo, I tried it last night with my Iphone and couldn't read all the numbers. I'll try making darker copies at work.

Dude....why the excuses? The video clearly show you has about
1-1.5 car lenght right out the gate.

That video was neat. Never thought that run would be interesting to anyone....
The reaction time on the BMW was .408 (slow)
My over reaction time was -.107 (to fast)
That's why the 2 car lengths out of the hole.
On the top end it opened up to 4-5 car lengths.
Those BMW guys were cool had some fast tweaked cars.

Your the King man! el numero ono. And your car has more in her...

No matter what , its always interesting seeing a AMG on the drag strip, and especially a model many have never seen at the dealership or on the street. This was a mighty run and the top end is more than I had predicted possible. Now i am quite certain you can improve upon this run with 11.X and a 119.X trap.

Great runs ,

For the most part, rentals are about practice. I usually ignore the green light unless I know that someone wants to race me. I am more concerned with getting my launch right to improve my ET's. I'd rather "lose" with an 11.8 than win with a 12.2.

The atmosphere was pretty laid back for the rental.

Back to the thread - I am still so happy that I got to meet Jim (a class act) and see his CLK BS run. And so pleased that it was as quick and fast as it is. The timeslips (yes - very hard to read) are there and, in this case, so is video.

Putting together these rentals when you have a full time (8-8) job is a gigantic pain in the azz, but getting to meet Jim and seeing his machine at the track make it worth it.

I believe that with better track prep and lower tire pressures, that car could cut 1.7's and be in the 11's. When we have our next rental in March, my bet is that Jim does it. But like all racers know, it only happens when it happens. But if he never runs that car again, the CLK did an amazing job already.

A win is a win but i'm not impressed by the Black Series barely beat the BMW specially since the Black Series weight about 1000 lbs. less and have alot more torques then then the BMW at a much lower RPM.

1000lbs less???? thats silly bro, its a stock car and it weighs just slightly less than the Modded M6 it raced

M6 is 200 lbs less than a Black Series, a convertable is likely about the same weight .

Both cars were likely 4k lbs

Question Any plans for superchargers on the BS?

Any plans to install a supercharger on the 63 Black Series? How much faster could it be with it?

There is not much room for a supercharger under the CLK63 BS hood with the cross-over strut tower brace the factory added on these cars.

Do a google search on both car and it showed the M6 convertible weigh almost 4400 lbs and the BS almost at 3900 lbs.
