Buying a BS as a weekend car?

I just sold my 996tt and have the itch for another weekend sports car. Apparently these cars are readily avail now even tho I thought a very small number of cars were gonna make it stateside? How much off sticker should I expect for this particular car?

$140K and if you wait one year for a used one, it will be in the $90K.

There is a limited number, its just that most of the production seems to be coming in now to the dealers and not a lot of buyers right now. Since most of the dealers only get one they try to hold to the sticker price but there are some deals to be had. MB of Houston has one on Ebay for $5k off sticker. Thats the cheapest i have seen.

Really, did you consult your crystal ball for that prediction ...? And for your information, $140k is $1625 over what you can get them for as many dealers are selling them at sticker.

Art - I know of a brand new one, color is black; my buddy bought it and then had a change of heart. He has over 50 cars and more $$$ than sense. He just wants to unload it. Price is less than MSRP. PM me if you are interested.
There is also a white one at WI Simonson in Santa Monica CA where I bought mine, they are asking MSRP. I have info and contact info on both - PM me if you are interested. I have no interest in either car.

Maybe so, but you're still making comparisions where they don't exist. Like comparing the BS to a full race M3 GTR not street legal twice the price, etc.
DER

OP- I have a few buddies who have sold their TT's for the BS and use them as daily driver and they are very happy. Just to give you some other's opinions who have been where u are now. Hope that helps.

That's not the same car that did the 7:12 on the Nordschleife that you referenced in this thread smartguy -
https://mbworld.org/forums/clk63-black-series-forum-registry/224348-road-track-gives-new-08-m3-same-specs-our-black-series.html

the car you pictured is a CSL modified to GTR specs -totally different. The 7:12 was done by Hans Stuck in this car and is FAR from street legal in this country, or any other.

It seems you don't like the CLK 63 BS as you're constantly bad mouthing the price, the performance, the euro aero package etc, etc etc.

Why are you posting on this forum? You've obviously never driven the car, can't afford it or have NEVER driven a sports vehicle of over 400 hp on a track.

Your dogmatic comparisons with BMW's is hysterical, and remind me of an adolescent who's only car knowledge is what he reads in motor trend and the internet. Get over your bias, or go hang out with the BMW juveniles.

LOL !!! So now you're referring to the larger front apron and rear wing that you previously thought were aftermarket pieces....AND now you're saying they actually made the car faster when you agreed with me in a previous thread those pieces probably slowed the car down ???

I agreed with you. Can you images if that same wing install on the M3 and what it would do to the times? The result would definately be difference. More like M3 ahead by .5 second !!
Stripped interior ??? Really ?? Because they deleted the backseats, you consider that stripped ??? Wow, then that M3 GTR you compared the BS to would be what - SUPER STRIPPED ??? LOL!!!
Sure, there are plenty of cars for less that are as fast if not faster - but the Skyline and Lexus LF are NOT HALF THE PRICE, so again please remove foot from mouth. What you don't understand however (and never will till you drive one) is just how good the BS is as a street car and on the track. There are very few cars that can do that without sacrificing something at one end of the spectrum. All one needs to do is look at the BS lap times around the Nordschleife, and then look at the other cars that posted similar times...that puts the BS into some very very fast, very expensive company that cannot do what the BS does on the street. I see that as justification for it's cost. Clearly, you don't see that at all. Not surprising...

It's becoming abundantly clear that, as Jim stated, you get most of your knowledge about cars from these boards and magazines and have absolutely no real world knowledge or firsthand experience with anything you discuss here. Not to mention your grammar is horrible. So please, pretty please....do us all a favor and get lost.

.

1) Huh...quote me?

2) Then what's the retail price on the 2 cars?

3) This is like when every parent think their daughter is the most beautifull !! It SO GOOD that it not worthy for any magazines to compare it to other car in the same price ranges but instead to a car at half the price. Now that's a GOOD CAR !!!

4) Ok, where's the link to the BS lap times around the Nordschleife and I'll be the judge of it.

The estimated price of the new Skyline will be at least $70k...that's MORE THAN half the price of the BS...and, again you're an idiot becasue the Lexus LF is MORE THAN THE BS - estimated price will be ~$170k.

Like I said - You simply spew out specs and comparisions without even doing your homework. You really are a moron, so here ya go, see for yourself:

My question is.......what do you expect from a car that is cost $65K more, with striped interior, much more power...etc.? BS is not the **** because there's still alot of cars out at half price that the BS can't compete with like the Z06, ZR1, Skyline, Lexus...etc.
I don't think that we are going to persuade Mr. CLK and SLK of anything, nor does it really matter to me. In a funny way, I can see a glimmer of his point (it costs alot for a relatively small margin of measurable performance). On the other hand, he hasn't driven one (so the explanation of how the car feels is falling on deaf ears), can't afford one (so wants to argue it's a waste of money), and is seemingly doing this in a language that is not his own (my guess from syntax and spelling-sorry if I'm wrong).
Mr. CLK/SLK, maybe this will clear it up. The BS does cost alot, and it isn't worth it if you have to steal from the kid's college fund to buy your transportation. But, if you have driven many high performance cars and are searching for that magical combination of race car-like setup, daily usability, and durability for extreme use, there isn't anything else THAT DOES THE SAME for less money.
Time has shown with many new cars that early buyers pay a premium. I paid sticker, with a strong suspicion I could wait 6 months and possibly save $5,000. But, I didn't want to take the risk of having to go into the secondary market. I'm going to also guess that in the short run, BS owners risk depreciation losses which could be substantial. It doesn't bother me, as I don't expect to sell anytime soon.
I'm going to guess that every BS owner could decide to live in a cheaper house, live in a smaller house, go on less expensive vacations, send our kids to cheaper colleges, eat at cheaper restaurants, be less generous with gifts to loved ones, and conserve cash in many more ways. The person who is a BS buyer isn't one of those people. So, Mr. CLK/SLK, please accept that the owners here are very satisfied with the cars, can't wait to drive them, and hope one day you will have that chance so you can say, "Now, I get it" in whateve language is most familiar to you.
If you drink alcohol, you might recognize that Chateau Mouton Rothschild costs much more than Chateau St. Michelle, though the measurable alcohol content is very similar, the color is similar, the bottles are similar, and the consequences of over-consumtion are similar. The experience and the prices are dissimilar. But, you may not drink alcohol, so you won't get that either. AS

Answer: Refinement, reliability, exclusivity, a warranty for track use, and most importantly a car that some frohawk coiffured internet racer won't be driving.

the car you pictured is a CSL modified to GTR specs -totally different. The 7:12 was done by Hans Stuck in this car and is FAR from street legal in this country, or any other.

The question is, you said that the GTR specs is not street leagl? So I proof you WRONG !!

1) Based on what car>

2) Mercedes quality is suck on their production cars. What exactly are you base on to think it reliability?

3) Exclusivity? Not sure why you so proud of it on a car that barely just came out and now is flooded with owners want to get rid of it on EBAY for alot less then what they bought it.

4) How sure are you? Wait until you tow in your car for warranty work and told them that the car broke down during track use then come back and tell us. I remember a couple years ago Mercedes refused warranty work on their multi-million dollars race after it broke down in the middle of the road during a customer tested drive from a dealer in California.

I think Clk&Slk has spun and turned this into a thread about how to justify... "not buying" a CLK63 Black Series..

No, I won't need to start counting nickles and dimes to buy a BS. In two years, I'll be able to afford it when you already pay half of the retail price for me.

clsslk...aka frohawk,
I'm engaging your questions for humor sake in an attempt to see if it's possible to debate someone who still believes that if they read it on the internet it's fact.

The fact is I've owned 9 amg's with no problems contrary to your JD Powers surveys. Exclusive! 350 CLk 63 Blacks vs. 12,000 m3's vs. 1200 Gt3 porsche. Did you fail math? I've already raced the CLK 63 Black and I've seen AMG warrantee an oil cooler punctured on the track. Do you have anymore unsubstantiated conjecture. Are you a product of home schooling?

Tell you what, I will give you a ride (free) at the Ferrari/ Pantera event at WSIR on 3/-3/2-08. Just remember to wear your diaper, so not to soil the seat when your adrenalin turns brown. After a ride through turn eight you will never utter BS about a BMW again, I guarantee it.

Jimmy (your daddy)
