Depends what you mean by "best". If you are solely concerned with performance then the OEM P-Zero Corsas are the best. If you are looking for a tire which is more useable year round and gets better wear, then the PS-2 may be preferable.

On what? He asked which is best for the Black Series. Are you driving a Black Series with PS-2s? I preferred PS-2s over Pirellis on my Ferrari. Doesn't mean I like them better than the Corsas on the BS.

Michelin does not make the PS2 in sizes that will fit both the front and rear OEM Black Series wheels.

Has anyone changed tires for the street?
I think AS may be using Bridgestones, i'm not sure of the tire.

Anyone sacrifice a bit of handling for longer wear?

Yes, I do run the Bridgestones for fall and spring, here in beautiful northwest Indiana, and switch to the Corsas for summer, when I can get to the track.
The Bridgestones are a good compromise, as the handling is crisp, harshness a bit better, and somewhat quieter. They can be used in temperatires as low as 40, and I have driven them in slush on the highway without mishap.

I have the Michelins on my 996tt Porsche, and would caution anyone about trying to use them in cold conditions, especially if there is precipitation. They have no bite in slush at all.

I had the Pirelli's on my Porsche at one time, but discarded them after 5,000 miles. Their only redeeming value is that they actually work better in snow than the others mentioned. But, they are crappy on the track, subject to belt shift, and are loud. They are an inferior choice to the Michellins, if those are your choices.

I am fortunate enough to have 2 sets of rims, so the changeover is not difficult. (And I do seem to have the 3 styles of rims- large lip, small lip, no lip- doesn't seem to matter). AS

I've done the same thing as Alex, with a second set of stock rims and the same Bridgestone tires.

I like the Bridgestones for every day driving...

When I bought my car I ordered a set of HRE's because I thought the stock wheels (tough good looking) were a little lost in those fender flairs. In the three weeks it took to get my new wheels I put some miles onto the Corsa's and felt they are excellent for the BS. Very sticky and perfect for the track. However, and I agree with ET550, as a year around tire I wouldn't recommend them. When the HRE's were ready I went with the PS2's and I am very happy with my choice. I am not a big fan of the P-Zero's (had them on a couple of my cars) because when they have some miles on them, they get very hard and noisy.

On this car, the PZero seems to work much better then the PSC. I am sure it has a lot to do with sidewall rigidity/flex, but net/net - stay Pirelli on this one IMHO!

thanks

I’ve been running PS2’s since April. I like them, but definitely less stick than the Corsa’s... Tough to launch - I’ve broke them loose in third gear. The rear size – 285/30ZR19 – was not available from Michelin until recently. Now they are listed – also, that’s the same size as the ZR1 fronts – and they use PS2’s.

Brad - for someone who doesn't want to go with either the Corsa or the MPSC, what other tire would you recommend ? It seems that there a few more choices for the Black Series OEM wheels now. Here is what I come up with:

1. Bridgestone Potenza RE050A

2. Michelin Pilot Sport PS2

3. Pirelli PZero

4. Pirelli PZero Rosso

5. Yokohama ADVAN Sport

Which of the above would you suggest assuming dry weather only ?

I would run the Bridgestone over any of those. In fact, even the less expensive RE760 Sport is an AMAZING tire - very under-rated. I am sporting that on my M3 right now.

Thanks

C'mon Brad, we can't let you get away with broad brush strokes like that!
Give up the details!
Dry grip, cornering, noise, wet grip, feedback before they break free, that kinda' stuff - not just fluff like AMAZING.

Give us a comparative point, you drive a lot of different high performance cars, your comments matter!

Thanks Brad - I tried to reach you today and spoke to Bob for a bit. Anyway, I decide to go with the PS2's. My Corsas had gotten so bad that it was bordering on dangerous. First impression of the PS2 is that initial turn in is not as crisp as the Corsas, but once set, it holds well enough for street driving. Lateral acceleration is good and I'm not getting any wheelspin in second gear anymore. I'll post more impressions as I log a few more miles. Overall, they feel fine for running around the city and weekend jaunts. Thanks very much for the reply as usual.

LOL. Ok, i had S03's on before and I think the RE760 is as good as that if not better, and I think both are better then the PS2.

I cannot comment on extreme wet as I have not driven in it yet. But the dry is amazing. I have a hard time breaking them loose. The noise is not a problem (I have a convertible, headers and a loud stereo - so I cannot really comment). AMAZING may be vague, but it is accurate I think. I would put them up against any non Dot-R tire I have driven hard so far.

Luke - sorry about that, my son had his 4th b-day party, so I was out!

thanks
Brad

No problem bro - happy B day to Jr !!! Now I'm kinda wishing I had saved a few bucks and gone with the Bridgstones as I used to have the S03's on my Porsches and loved them. Oh well, I'll run these suckers bald soon enough !!!
