CLK Black vs. E63 AMG
Longtime Lurker on these forums. Amazing amounts of great information with very little BS compared to what you see elsewhere.
I currently have a 2008 E63 and am strongly considering taking the jump to the CLK BS. Has anyone made a similar move? Can you compare and contrast the engine qualities of each car?
I understand the suspension and ride are completely different due to the nature of each car and the airmatic of the E however how does the engine act differently? They both share the same engine however I have to assume that they may be tuned differently.
Thanks in advance and sorry for a repost - I did a search first and couldn't find the info.

I can't answer the question regarding engine tuning. But, I do think you will find the major difference to be steering and handling, more than raw power. One startling characteristic of the BS that is not mentioned much is the "rear steer" nature of the car. The locking dif and the rear tires together with the power will move the rear side to side on acceleration, up to about 40 mph. Turn-in and oversteer bias are the most striking difference from other street cars. Then firm damping, and the form-fitting seat become apparent.
If you are considering the change, you owe yourself a drive. Where do you live? AS
I travel back to the mainland about once a month and suppose I could find a dealer willing to let me drive one at that point but I can't count on that.
There are two dealers I have been working with - one in CA and one in FL willing to deal on remaining stock (lots out there) and I would have it shipped here.
I've test driven both cars and it's not on the same level when it comes to handling. Powerwise they're about the same maybe a little more "umph" on the BS.
When it comes to handling, BS wins handown! If i had the funds i'd be all over the BS masterpiece.

I don't know where you visit when in the states, but if you are in a big city, I wuould guess some of the private owners would let you drive. If Chicago is in your future, let me know. As long as there is no snow, and you are willing to come the 50 miles from downtown to my little town, I'll happily let you figure out the difference. AS

AS, where do you live? Which burb?
I live in the tiny town of Dune Acres, Indiana, located smack in the middle if the Indiana Dunes national park, near the town of Chesterton, right at the bottom of the lake.
About 44 miles and 44 minutes from downtown Chicago, at least with modest use of a Valentine 1. I work primarily in Munster, Indiana, right on the state line. AS

Thanks for the offer and I wish I was out your way. I'm in Denver and Cincy mostly with an occasional trip to the West coast. Never in the Chicago area.
I'm going to take everyone's feedback and the reviews I have read and pull the trigger shortly. Hoping for a new White CLK to come my way at the right price.
Another question - Does the passenger front seat have child car seat anchors?
