CLK 63 AMG BS vs Ferrari 360 Modena

Sorry if this has been asked before, I searched on the Ferrari and kept getting hits from posts with every lap time for every car at the 'Ring.

Anyone driven both, any opinions on handling, performance etc.

I have a 2000 Modena 6spd, it runs rings around my previous cars (Porsche 997S, Merc SL500, TVR Griffith 500, Ferrari 355, Audi S4) but I'm in lust with the BS now the prices are sub-$90k.

Thanks in advance.

I currently own a CLK Black and have owned a 360 Coupe. The CLK is quicker around the track and much easier to drive quickly. It also has a warranty on track that I have not had with any of my Ferrari's

The CLK Black has also proven to be just as quick on track as a 430 depending on the track but a step below the Scuderia on ANY track.....

You won't be dissapointed with the CLK Black. I think it will go down in history as one of the most underrated track cars ever!

Cheers!

I would contact Tipo815, I believe he owns a 360 and a couple 430's. Also see links below. I can tell you that I have spanked a couple 360's pretty badly on the track, but my BS is far from stock and I'm not sure of the 360 drivers skill levels.

Thanks for the insights.

I like to go around corners quickly so it's important that the car is not just a "point and squirt" if you know what I mean

While a bit tail happy, it is not point and squirt for sure! I can honestly say it is not like any other AMG produced other than the CLK DTM.

Then why do you have a 360?.

I have a 430 and a Black Series, and the Black Series is just as much fun although it requires a different technique. At the prices you are talking about the Black Series should be a no brainer.

The more confidence you have in "marching to your own drummer" the more you will enjoy the Black Series. Many have dismissed the car based upon "perceived" value versus real value. They are the losers!

Not sure what you mean, the 360 doesn't go around corners quickly?

2008 CLK BS
The two cars are really different with very different driving characteristics/personalities. The 360 - while a great car in its own right - is somewhat "old" technology compared to the Black Series. The BS is an incredible machine and as someone already pointed out - it is unlike any previous AMG clad car. If you happened to have watched the "Supercars Exposed" episode profiling Tony Kanaan and some of his car he indicated that the BS was his favroite car (and he has some impressive cars in his stable). If you were to make the change you would not be disappointed.

Thanks Tipo, perhaps Fickle thought I was bragging about having a 360 and felt he needed to put me in my place (I'm not delusional enough to do that on a forum like this) it's an old car, but I've never heard it described as a poor handling car; tricky at the limit sure, but that makes it fun.
