$3,500 for OEM Blue Tooth.....

I decided I had to have the connivance of hands free talking and after some research, I chose to go with the MB OEM Blue Tooth. Works great, automatically downloads my phonebook and the sound is crystal clear. I've included some pictures. For the life of me, I can't figure out why MB decided against including the Blue Tooth or at least make it an option!

Very cool. Is that $3500 installed or just the parts (blue tooth unit and lots of wires)? I am still debating...

Yes, $3,500 is parts and labor, I'm not sure what the break down is or how many wires they needed to install, I do know they had to remove the center console to run wires to the "pod" unit in the console. It's pretty cool, lights up blue on either side of the MB emblem and the emblem its self, however, it takes over what little space is in the compartment.

Akin Gump is code for a buddy of mine, the number doesn't work any more, hence I used this number to illustrate the phone book data...

very blunt way to put it, but i guess since you worked at a dealer, you have first hand knowledge. We appreciate it although the OP might not.

Maybe you know places that can get this price down? I think the Blue tooth unit is around $700 or $800. And since this BS is not "really" pre-wired you still need whole bunch wires to go with it. Removing the center console... Can I trust the dealer for this installation?

I've installed it before. it takes honestly just under 2h if that and if you get the parts at cots you can get all the parts for under 1k.

Sure when you do decide to get it done just PM me. IIRC the normal price should be around $1700

Sorry I don't mean to be blunt rude or offend. It's just the truth.

Guess I should have posted my quote before moving forward with this, I got two quotes for MB dealers, both very close to each other. I was told the CLK BS did not come pre-wired from the factory, hence more labor than normal. I'm wondering of the $1,700 and $1,000 is for CLK's that are pre-wired and the only parts to install are POD and harness?

And trust me, I don't throw down money down the toilet, I'm a pretty shrewd guy when it comes to finances, however, I will pay for having things done right, which is why I decided to have an authorized MB dealer install factory parts rather than aftermarket.

My dealer did it for $2600 (by recollection). I drive my car every day, and it is great. Since I'm on the phone a lot, it is worth it. If I'm lucky enough to drive it 260 days a year for 10 years, that will be a dollar a day. I'll live without Starbucks or bottled water.AS

They do come pre-wired check your VMI for code 387 and ask them what it means since they said it has no pre-wire the hand free communication system was just not a VPC installed option, it's just like installing bluetooth in any 2005+ vehicle where people didn't want to pay for the kit since hands free wasn't as popular back then.

You can try this website http://old.mbclub.ru/mb/vin/?lng=eng , but it's inconsistent. The best way is to sign up for the parts catalog http://epc.startekinfo.com/epc/ and enter your vin on the right side there is a picture of a car with a paper behind it called the data card. Alternatively you can ask your service advisor to run it. It's called a vehicle master inquiry and it shows all the options the car came equipped with.

So he paid a little too much for his bluetooth, whats with the ridicule. You have never overpaid for anything? I cant stand turds like you and Soldier2304 on this board. Both of you should go back to the board you belong to, since neither one of you little S**ts have a blk series to begin with. When you are both old enough to have bought a car yourselves, then you can come back and talk.
If you have nothing nice or interesting to say, then you should say Nothing.

....did you create another account, LZH?

It's harsh but Eitan1 has a point, there's nicer way to say things even if you do think Todd overpaid but I'd have had it done at the stealers too, makes sense when under warranty should anything go wrong and all that...good addition is what i say Todd...

One of you memebers in the BS lounge tell whoever's listening at AMG to have bluetooth from the factory on the next 100k car...

Re overpaying: All of us who bought the cars at introduction overpaid, if the definition is you can get the same thing for less, time has proven that if we waited, we could have saved many thousands.
On the other hand, time is precious, so "wasting" is a very personal opinion.
The bluetooth works perfectly, utilizes the keypad that already exists, is intuitive, and reliable. I don't feel I overpaid, as I could not get the same thing for less. If, in the future, and integrated device can be installed for less, then it's just like all technology- cheaper as time goes on. So the first laptop was overpriced, the first flat screen was overpriced, and the first Iphone was overpriced. Big deal. AS
