Thinking of selling my BS...

Never thought I would but now I am because I am planning to move back to Canada and it would be a shame for the car to be exposed to road salt... not that it would be but I'd have to store it for the winter and all. I haven't even looked into whether I can import it or not yet but I assume I can.

The car is black with a little over 4K miles, 4091 as of the moment. Stock with iPod, bluetooth, clear bra, and a factory extended warrant 7 year/100K miles. I bought the car in California and it is now in Florida, always garaged and very well cared for. I'll take some pics and post them but I thought I start a thread. Any opinions on what I should expect to get for it and what I should ask for it would be appreciated. Thanks.

Was it bought from new? If so, with just 4091 miles the price should be good compared to those over 10k.

Other guys will be more specific but I would look to get a higher than avg number and if not met I would keep hold of it if you can afford to. Sure the weather ain't great in Canada but it's just a car...

Drive it and enjoy it.

I think around $85K would be a fair price for both the buyer and the seller.

A buyer might think $75k would be a fair price for both the buyer and the seller

$75k would be great for the buyer, but not the seller. I was just trying to come up with a reasonable figure for both parties.

No offense to anyone here, but as a potential buyer, how is 85k fair for the buyer, when one just went for 78-79k with less miles. Who is actually buying a black clk black series for this much?

Like most things the selling price is determined by how willing/unwilling the buyers and the sellers are. All we can do is to come up with a reasonable starting point, and it can go up or down from there.

Frankly, I have not been checking the prices of BS lately since I am not in the market to either sell or buy. $85K figure was just a number that I thought was not leaning toward either the buyer or the seller. For the purpose of this thread, I just did a quick check on Cars.com.

Asking prices range from $110,500 to all the way down to $63,972. Does this mean that the fair price for the buyer is now $63,972 or less?

If you are a buyer, by all means buy it for the least amount. If you are a seller, sell it for the most amount.

Not trying to stir this debate again as this topic has been beaten to death. Buyers ALWAYS have a different view than owners/sellers UNTIL said buyer has one.....

The thing people who are in the market for a limited production car don't usually like to admit (or understand) is that one sale rarely determines the market value of all cars for sale on the market........

It's happened here b/f where someone bought a car cheap and other potential buyers can't find one for the same number.

While generally the numbers will be within a range (which BTW I think 79-85k is a range of possible prices these days..) you can't really say just b/c one sold for X therefore they will all be sold at that number or lower?

Good luck in your search.

Least expensive CLK63 BS I find on cars.com is $70,900 and that one was a lemon law buy back, wouldn't go near that one. Next lowest priced one is listed for $80K. Just don't want some guys flipping out there are BS listed for less than $64K.

And a fair price is what both buyer and seller agree upon.

Thanks for the correction. That car was a regular clk 63 convertable.

Just another example of a seller who hasn't taken the time to present his/her car in the best light possible to maximize sale price. *****ty pictures of a filthy car that judging by the discolored brake calipers has done some serious track time......

Picture of some of that track time (new rotors by 6k miles?).....

Seriously Mr. Seller, is THIS the best you can do? This seller deserves to get low ball offers...... I can only imagine what kind of shape this one is in????

WOW!
Enough track time to turn the rear calipers gold!

Maybe an AMG Challenge car?

I agree with you, he's earned the low ball offers.

Chill out Man !!!

I hear all the same arguments towards the Challenge Stradale ... I'm a seller and sometimes take offense to people trying to move the market down ... but, it is what it is ... the marketplace

There was one listed on Autotrader.com last night for around $75K, it isn't there is morning. It was at Mercedes of Omaha, I think it had about 10K on the odo, 2 owners, not CPO (I believe). Don't know if it sold or what happened to it but it isn't listed right now.

No need to chill, just giving another perspective of the car YOU referenced......

Marketplace for a car that is presented like this one and looks like this one is probably different than one that doesn't look like this one and is presented in a more appealing manner? Wouldn't you agree? Market should be down for cars like this one.........

Hey, Im looking for a BS now and have been doing a ton of research on them and the prices they are at. It seems like many dealers either bought the cars at auction for around 72 and are boosting the price to ridiculous numbers or own it for 90 and have to sell the car at 85.

Could you give me the specs of your car? Im an immediate buyer btw. Please email me if you can! bb1162001@yahoo.com

ANYONE who has one for sale can email...lol.

I inquired about the same car. I was hesitant until I found out it was a CPO car. Anyhow I believe the car sold probably this morning, as I did a followup last night and it was still there.

Like any car, if the car was well taken care of, it demands more money and especially in the more rarer colored ones.

Well it looks like keeping the car is not an option so I will have to sell it. The CLK63 Black Series cannot be imported into Canada.

Here is a link to what Mercedes are and are not admissible from Mercedes Benz Canada...
http://www.mercedes-benz.ca/index.cfm?id=6872

And a link to a similar list for the from Transport Canada
http://www.tc.gc.ca/roadsafety/safev...see_notes_.htm

So unless I get Transport Canada to make an exception, I'll have to sell the car. Bummer.

Does anyone know why the CLK63 Black Series is not allowed to be imported into Canada?

Are Canadians not allowed to have cars that are enjoyable to drive?

Or, is there some other reason that makes the car unacceptable?

I called MB Canada and they simply said that the car cannot be modify to meet Canadian standard. I asked for more info but she didn't know... she said it is usually something to do with child restraint. It could be that MB just didn't do the necessary crash testing or whatever for Canada because it was such a limited production car. I'm pretty bummed... I was going to keep it.
