This section has been as dead as a fart for the past couple of weeks.

It's a very unique car that fills a gap between trackable street cars and luxury automobiles. I honestly don't think it has any equal, all things considered of course. Now...if someone were to turn one of these things into a non stret legal track only car....then we'd have something more to discuss

Until that happens....I think all that can be said, has been.

I'll buy when it hits $50k!

I was at the LA auto show and both Mario Spitzner and Tommy Kendall "don't sell the BS"
Low numbers and big horsepower make for keepers.

Yup....was also interesting to hear their comments on forced induction cars....especially the 65 motors...
I don't plan on ever selling my BS. Way too unique. Now I'm looking for a G Wagon

Would be interested to hear (uh, read...) what they had to say since I have two forced induction AMGs. Can you guys share?

Given that they've lost about 50 large in value (on average) over the past two years, it really won't be that much longer until the value is at 50 grand.

Where are you seeing them at 50%+ off original price?

And since you're predicting the future, where is the stock market headed?

I kid, I kid...

I was just making a preemptive strike b/f the crowd hoping the price will go low enough (or they can somehow influence it lower.....) for them to buy one that usually shows up whenever this topic comes up.......

For the record, I don't think they'll get there any time soon and a monkey is better at picking stocks then me.....

$130+ was the sticker price (plus all taxes). So, how many here are going to admit to paying over sticker, and by how much?

In regards to the stock market; it's giong to go up and down. Other times it will down and up.

There might be a couple who paid more than sticker but not many here. I paid considerably less than MSRP - bought used with 200 miles on it almost 2 years ago from the guy who owns Foreign Cars Italia..... BTW, taxes on automobiles in NC is 3% so it doesn't really add that much to the cost of a car here.

Right on about the stock market!

WHT BS
I bought mine new 17 months ago in Cali and I paid way below sticker out the door. I wasnt under the disillusion, nor have i ever been under the disillusion that any car is going to go up in value in the short or long term. My view has always been to buy it and enjoy it. Having said that, I am keeping mine for as along as I can. I do believe that they will go up in value in the long term. With only 500 made. Who knows how many have been totaled so far, and how many have been mistreated, banged up and re painted? I would say that a one owner fairly low mileage example in the right color, will fetch good money in 10, say 15 years from now. Either way, i am going to enjoy the hell out of mine while im still young and able. I suggest the same for the rest of us lucky *******s..........
Happy motoring gents.

One of these years I'm going to move to NH where there is neither sales nor income tax.

I'll admit it.... I paid over. I bought mine the day they hit the bay area. I was going on vacation the next morning, and I was not leaving the dealer without that car. They wanted 25, I paid 10. Bought it before I drove it, and I've never regretted it for a second.

Has anyone said that the car is/was overpriced? Perhaps that hasn't been said yet.

Porsche GT3 money+ for a car that a $75K Corvette Z06 bests in virtually every category.

And yes I'm an AMG fan.

Neither have the practicality, build quality, engineering , rarity or the ability to fufil the role of everyday car , track weapon and long distance cruiser as well as the CLK Black.

As to your reasoning on value - by your reckoning every hypercar on the planet is a total waste of space. The performance they offer over a GT3 or Z06 for the extra > $150,000 purchase price is fairly negligable even on track, let alone the street - BUT (and here is the point ), being different is worth the extra cost to some people, they are happy to pay it !!

^^^ +1

When I bought the BS I could have chosen a Z06, GT3 or even a ZR-1 (well, they weren't out yet....) for less $(GT3 for the same $). Even today, none would be a CLK63 Black Series. I'm happy with my choice.

An excellent response.
My gut level reply was much less refined.

Going in another direction, allow me to misuse the phrase, "It's a Black thing, you wouldn't understand!"

Of all the cars that I owned in the recent past(996tt, 997S, F430, 997tt, 997 GT3), the BS is the most satisfying to drive. The BS is not the best performer, but this car cured my desire to keep moving on to the "next" car.

I think Clarkson sums it up the best:

Are there any new ones left in dealer inventory? If I remember correctly, Todd bought his prior to prices stabilizing and if there are any new ones left are the dealers going to sell them that cheap? Todd did get a smokin deal.

i agree that since there arent any new ones left that i know of, my price may not be valid anymore. I see used ones on ebay for high 60's-70's, but they have 1 years worth of miles......correction bought mine end of June.
