Raced a C6 today
A friend of mine has a modded C6 automatic. He says about 480 at the wheels. He also has nitrous, but it was disconnected. For the record my car has an Evosport tune, intake and filter. I estimate from speaking with Evosport that my car has about 550 at the crank.
First race I spun in first and second and he jumped ahead by about 1.5 car lengths. At speeds approaching 100 I seemed to be gaining on him ever so slightly.
Second race was from a roll at about 30. I got a slight jump and had him by a car length and gaining. We stopped at about 120.
I expected to lose strictly based on the numbers (power and weight) and was pleasantly surprised.
Of course this was all in Mexico.

I would suggest running in automatic, the computer can upshift at the absolute correct RPM every time, if you are shifting manually you are either loosing fractions of a second and/or a few optimum RPM with delays and reaction times, a human can not shift one of these faster than the computer. At the drag strip the difference between me running full auto vs manual is consistantly 2/10th's or greater, as a rule 2/10ths equates to about 2 car lengths on an 11 second car.
