finally my car

So I got a lot of stick from people about my car and some were questioning whether I owned one.

In light of full disclosure, here it is just after we ran 183 MPH in Nevada (we did it on the road where this pic was taken). Earlier in the day we did a run out to lake mead with a bunch of Ferrari owners. One other black was there along with a SLR.

If there is a cop on this forum, I am lying and we didn't do more than 55MPH .

You shouldn't care enough to respond.
I bet there are more people who never doubted you than there were/are doubters.

All in all it was a great weekend. Drove the car for the first time so got on it only on the straights and found the shocks were not stiff enough as it got a bit mushy at speed and I had to let off. During the group drive no one got a ticket so that was a bonus (I wonder what the cops have done with a Swiss DL).

In Vegas I stayed at one of the city centre properties...valet loved the car and did not put it in the regular lot.

The Evosport front and rear aero package will help address some of that high speed sensation you experienced, actually probably more than springs will, but both will be perfect. When I first came on this board I griped about the same thing as well as the need for additional rear downforce and people said I was nuts, but several of them started experiencing the same sensation and later got the auro stuff installed. Consists of a front Euro style(very close to OEM) difuser and slightly taller rear lip spoiler. They also offer a DTM style rear wing, but I personally prefer the look of the lip type spoiler so I had them develop that option for my car. Several guys on this board that regularly track their cars now run that same set up and like it. My car is rock solid stable at speeds of over 205mph now.

Thanks for this. The car started to bottom out around 175 on the front and I could feel the rear end getting very light and it was moving all over the place with very little crosswind...I tried to drive through it but then realised that would not be a good idea.

The DTM wing could be an option but I am concerned that might attract too much attention. The car is going to go back to LA for some tweaking by Simon so I might look at the options again with him.

None fast enough!
JRCart is right on. We also have a few different shock settings that we have come up with that greatly help based on driver and spring rates. It is a scary deal when the car starts to come unglued at 185+ for sure!

In retrospect letting off was probably more dangerous than driving through it, if your front end was fully loaded and bottomed the sudden deceleration caused by letting off the gas with no remaining travel on the front end could have gotten ugly...the throttle is your friend (usually).

I never experienced my front end suspension bottoming on a straight away, even when my car was stock I brought it up to the top speed limiter, the azz end would get a little light but never what you experienced with bottoming, did you check your tire pressure? Were you running at those speed for a prolonged period of time? I'm not doubting anything you are saying, just trying to picture in my head what you explained.

Simon and Brad will hook you up, they have had literally dozens of Blacks in their shop and between them and the guys on this board you will get your suspension sorted, the good news is the stock stuff it already pretty close to perfect, the stock shocks are good, just go with a shorter spring with a different rate. A few guys on this board have driven my car on the track and they all commented that even more noticible than my HP gains are the greatly improved handling charecteristics over their stock BS's. My combo of springs, proper shock settings, aero package, ultra lightweight Dymags and wider rubber, and lighter rotors make for a noticable difference.

Jim...we are all good so no worries!

Letting off could have likely spun me out or caused me to lose control....I just eased up on the go pedal.

The front end was a result of the bumps in the road. I used to run the silver state classic and pony express many years ago and have experienced this. From experience I have found higher spring rates to generally solve the problem. To be honest, I likely won't go up to those speeds again so it isn't really an issue.

Off to Montreal...
