Looking to get into a BS and have some questions..

I'm planning to get a Bs within the next 6 to 8 months and have some questions for those of us who are currently owners of the vehicle:

1) What's the highest milage on your car and any issues?

2) Anyone using it as a daily driver? I'm planning to use mine 90% of the time outside of heavy rain or snow but that's about it.

3) Any one came from a DCT or similar gear boxes ? and how liveable is the 7g in the black after that? I know this is one and only area that I will miss from my current m3.

4) What are the typical maintenance cost on this car?

5) Any easy/bolt on mods available for the BS and what are the results?

I line in Northern Virginia and would love to get together with any owners from the area if you are kind enough to show me your car. Thanks..

CLK 63 Black Series, 2009 S550, 2011 Range Rover Supercharged, BMW F800 GS Anniv Edition
1 - 12k miles an no major issues
2 - Great as a daily driver, but limited rear cargo access as the seats don't move forward very easily - the trunk is very user friendly. Suspension is a bit rough, but if you like a firm ride it's fine
3 - The transmission is the only drawback to the car, but, it atually is the best torque converted auto box I've ever driven and alllows you to have lots of fun (read getting sideways)
4 - Very little other than scheduled service
5 - Evosport makes some kick *** bolt on's but they are not cheap. Most HP gains come from long tube headers and intake mods combined with a tune. Helping the 63 motor breathe better is key.

Hope that helps and good luck !!

I concur with all of the above having put 25k miles on my BS as my DD. With respect to the transmission, I drive my wife's Audi S5 Cab from time to time with the new DSG transmission, and while I think its a great transmission and would be nice to have in the BS, that knowledge does not detract from the overall fun factor of the car when I get back into the BS.

You beat me too it. Very nicely done. I'm sure LZH wishes he had posted that again! I'm not sure the OP will get it though.

I have 37,000 miles, and mine is a daily driver from April thru November (we live in a snow belt in Indiana, and the absence of snow tires is a limiting factor for winter use)
I have had no issues. The car is rock solid.
Costs are cheap for a car of this type. My 996tt Porsche is substantially more expensive.
The trans is fine. I leave it in "S" all the time, including track.
As far as mods, I'd ask, "why?" I have several 500+hp cars, and this level of power does not leave you begging for more in traffic. I've switched to Bridgestones for daily use, as they are quieter, smoother, have better wet grip, and last longer.
The trunk makes the car very usable. The reliability is great. My only wish would be for a true spare tire.AS

Would it be possible to fit a spare tire in the usual area? Perhaps something from a regular CLK?

I've wondered about that. Haven't taken the time to investigate. AS

I was told that a spare with clearance for the brakes won't fit. Too wide, so that the trunk lid doesn't fit properly anymore.
