Front skid plates for the 63 Black Series
I just took delivery of my CLK BS this week...first impression, wow...second, man its low...
So before I did something stupid, like tear off my front bumper. I went on the hunt for front skid plates for my car? I live in Los Angeles, didn't have much luck locating any so finally found a shop who is making them for me....if anyone is interested I'll be happy to share the results and info once I receive them.

Skid plates are usually a piece of composite material that is about 3mm to 5mm thick and are installed under the front bumper so when you pull into driveways ect that would scrape your front bumper you scrape the plate instead. Popular on Ferraris and Lambos they would definitely bennifit the BS. Anyway I found a shop in LA that is making a set for me next week. So hope I can save my front end

You guys, he's not nuts, I had a set made for mine(have never installed though) as most of you know I run the Vorsteiner splitter on my car and it sticks out a few inches further than stock which results in more encounters with curbs and even big dips and speed bumps in parking lots. There is a material called Tegris, it is used on lots of race cars, it is a woven material similar to carbon fiber but about 100X more resistant to abrasions and friction than carbon fiber. I just had a new splitter installed this winter and when I get the car back in my hands the Tegris plate is getting installed on the bottom side of the splitter. Its only about .125" thick and weighs about 2.5 pounds, IMO worth it considering the cost of a Vorsteiner splitter is north of $3500. Besides that you will never even know its installedunless the car is up on a lift.
