I think it's what Porsche did in 1998 with the Carrera. All you'll really get is a wide body alongside some other styling cues. Underneath it's a much softer version compared to the CLK63 BS. It's a Black Series for the masses

My post on the AMG lounge
I should really stop expecting Black Series variants to be as over-engineered as the CLK Black was. This is the first Black series car with rear fenders that are smaller than the front. The back looks disproportionately small compared to the front. In the pictures it even makes it look like there are smaller diameter rims in the back. The top of the rear fender should come up to at least the belt-line. This also leads me to believe that the rear track was minimally widened, if at all. As for the front, I don't mind the hood scoops, but the wideness of the front looks awkward compared to the rest with a direct head on view. And of course, if you block everything below the window line with your hand, you have an Accord Coupe above. Splitting the car into front and rear halves with your hand also shows the problem.
Unless there is some major "track-day special" components under that body (i.e. five additional radiators, seam welding, carbon fiber body panels, etc), I can't see this being nearly as special as the CLK63 Black was compared to the regular CLK63.
But maybe that was the point. As a CLK Black owner there is nothing (besides the transmission) that makes me want to replace it with a C63 Black. With that in mind, I see this as an attempt to induct more AMG lovers to the Black Series niche, rather than getting existing Black owners to "upgrade".

CLK AMG BLACK SERIES (among other German things)
Gents I wrote about this car last year . I was informed that it would have " serious track options " . It is " much " faster round the ring than our cars . It was , however obvious that there would be a rear seat option ( a lot of complaints apparently ) .
How do you guys know that it is a slack jawed black series ? This goes against everything I have heard ( AMG state this is the best handling merc ever ) . Do you have info on the AMG lounge ? ( As a UK owner I dont have access ) , please explain .

Didn't say it's no good or slack jawed ...... it's just not as hard core as the CLK. Also, the base version might have not as many track goodies, but a long and expensive option list like Porsche could remedy that. I guess we'll have to wait until it hits the showroom floor .....

Options? Maybe a P1 Package or how about Memory Seats w/ 4 driver settings. I can see now some old lady up-sold a Black Series with Burl Walnut trim, a sunroof and L/S diff delete (she won't need it).
I hope it looks better than the pictures show ... the hood looks gimmicky and the front looks clownish.
I'll tell you how I really feel when I see one in the flesh

CLK63BS, 2014 G63
When I saw the picture at first I thought I was seeing things. It looked like a CLK Black at first glance.
Maybe I'm alone here but I think it looks great. Will it be as over-engineered as our CLK Blacks?...probably not....Will it be limited to 500 cars, maybe not....I think it looks good and will keep the competition on their feet (BMW, Audi, etc) As for now all we got are some teaser shots (not to mention a missing rear shot). No confirmed specs are available so who knows at this point. I for one am very interested in this as my Black will not last me forever. Heck in another year I'll be pushing 50+k

Rebellious, It amazes me how young those of us with black series tend to be. I will be 46 this year and feel old to many owners!
I will check later on today with parts for the clk over here as obviously we don't have part numbers for the c63 yet...

And also Carbon Fiber fenders / body panels. Not here in the USA.
Personally, I think the C Black looks decent. Much better than the C63 Coupe. I'll reserve final judgement when I see formal release pics and specs. No way I am getting rid of the CLK Black for this, however.
