question about tires

i am really surprised on how much faster the c63bs is around the top gear racetrack and am really starting to wonder if the diff.could be almost all due to the new semi-slick dunlop tires? (that only can do a few laps before they are done). When we compare the regular c63 coupe (with normal tires) against the clk bs the clk is much quicker! Could the pirelli corso be the weak link?

R Compounds on an autoX track are worth 2 seconds a lap over the best street tire. No one runs Pirelli at the track that I have seen.

Most of the BS that track their cars run Pirelli. Takes about two laps to get up to temp and they do stick. Very predictable unlike MPSC with sudden break away. Downside is price and avilability. Pirelli is coming out with new line so the Corsa will be an orphan soon.
BTW, all the World Challenge cars run Pirelli.

Looking to get some feedback.. as a Toyo dealer we can offer you guys the R888 in sizes 265/30/19 and 295/30/19. Having used these tires myself I know they run wide. Too wide really for the stock wheel sizes that come on the BS. As such we are working on a package that will move the rear wheels to the front to use with the 265/30/19 and having a brand new wheel made in 19x11 for the rear 295/30/19.

This new wheel will look and be finished exactly the same as OEM except for slightly more concave. This will allow a more cost effective route for guys looking to upgrade tires while enabling you to keep the OEM styling/look. We are doing this for a local BS customer who wants to run the Toyos. The rear wheel is being designed as we speak. The wheel is a forged CNC one piece wheel with the same finish as OEM.

Our question is whether or not there are more BS owners interested in this. We are about a month out from the final product. If there is more interest please reply and leave your thoughts. Obviously everyone (including us) offers a complete set of aftermarket wheels, but this option will cut that price in half. This would only make sense for someone who doesn't want the hassle of having two sets of wheels on hand and would like the option of running the Toyos as their primary tires.

Open to any feedback, ideas, good or bad.

James

Here are some renderings we just received. Thoughts? Too much concave?

Too early to tell right now. Once we get the final offsets worked out and the wheel comes out of production we will have the numbers and be sure to share.
