19x11 Factory Black Series Wheel

Wanted to start a new thread for this as a follow up to our post in this thread regarding the availability of an 19x11 rear option for the CLK63 Black Series. The reason this all came up was the desire to run the Toyo R888's in 265/30/19 up front and 295/30/19 rear as opposed to the factory Pirelli's.. As you can see from the photos the 9.5 wheel is needed to run the 265/30. Trying to mount this size on the factory front wheel looks terrible. The Toyo's just run too wide and even a 10" wheel would work. The idea behind the package is to not have to buy a whole new set of wheels just to be able to change to a different brand tire. This might not appeal to everyone but we thought some might like this option. Conversely now that we have the design in place we can offer a full set of OEM style wheels in any custom fitment desired.

We had our test car in for some additional fitment and testing and here is where we are.

Again, we are producing a pair for a customer in house. Turn around time is about 4 weeks once ordered. Pricing will be $1200 per wheel for 19x11 with about a +35-+38 offset. We are doing some test fitment and working out the final offset right now as a matter of fact. Here is the first minor snag we have come across. The inner barrels on the rear wheels are shaped different than the barrels on the front wheel. There is a step that is not present on the front barrel. The bottom of the outer tie rod end barely makes contact with this step when mounting the OEM 19x9.5 on the front. This requires you to run a tie rod end with a lower profile than OEM. So far all we have been able to source is one that would require minor reshaping to the bottom of the tie rod end to gain the needed clearance off the barrel. So this setup would require that the front outer tie rod ends be replaced or the customer can modify their own tie rod ends which is what we have done on our test vehicle. Knowing that some people may not have the capability to do this is why we are still trying to source an aftermarket tie rod to include with the kit.So far all we have come up with is one that requires minor re-shaping to clear. Also, in order to get the rear OEM wheels to look flush/proper with the new 11” we are running a 12mm hub centric spacer up front. I know a lot of the guys that run factory wheels also run spacers to increase track width so this should be a non-issue for most.

So the package would include:

2 - 19x11 one piece forged mono-block wheels – factory replica with semi concave profile $1200/each
2- 12mm Hub Centric spacers $40/each
10- Longer Chrome Bolts to use with spacers up front $3/each

10- Standard Length Chrome Bolts for New Rear wheels $3/each

2- Optional modified tie rod ends - $50/each (or customer can modify their existing tie rod ends)

$2540 without tie rod ends

$2640 with tie rod ends

Once we have the rear wheel in we will update the post again. Any questions or feedback let us know.

I think you may need to do a little more research on the stock BS wheels. Not all BS wheels have a step inside the barrel. The problem arises because Mercedes used two different manufacturers for the wheels and the difference was the step inside the barrel. This became a big issue because many of the cars got mixed wheels. For example I got one rear wheel without a step and one with a step. Mercedes gave me a matching set under warranty. There is a thread from a few years ago on this forum regarding this issue. The step can appear on the front or rear wheels and every car may be different.

Also, how much wider are the Toyos? I am running 275/30-19 Bridgestone RE-11 on 9 inch rims with no issues. I am running 305's on 11 inch rims in the rear.

Thank you for the heads up. We never noticed this detail until doing this project. We assumed they were all like this. Our project car had both rears with the step and both fronts without, so it didn't look out of place. Didn't think to question Mercedes.
This is very good news as people who have the other style rear wheel will now have a bolt on affair. No need for custom tie rod ends.

As for the tires, yes the toyos run very wide, the 265's end up flushing out on a 10" wide wheel. This tire is comparable to a 275/285 street tire. The 295 more like a 305.

Here are the specs for the R888. As you can see, the tread width for the front is 10" and section width is like 10.6".
The rear tread width is 11.1" and the section width is 11.7".

Does this mean we can fit 305 cups on the rear ?
This should be possible as the 295 toyo is almost as wide as a 305 cup right ?
I'm very very interested in this package and am ready to order immediately .

Sent you a PM. If possible include your phone number in the reply. Might be best if we call and work out all the details over the phone. I dont think there will be an issue with that sizing but I will double check when I get into the shop tomorrow.

The fronts are actually 0.1" smaller in tread and section width than the 275 Re-11s so you should have no issue running the 265 Toyos on the 9" rims. Just another alternative to solving your tie rod issue.

Yes, they will mount up. The 9 is in the bottom of the approved rim range. The problem is that the sidewalls will be rolled over. As it is now on the 9.5 it is not even flush. If I was building a rim from scratch to fit these Toyo's it would be a 10 inch wide for the front to make it flush with the rim. This keeps the sidewall properly tensioned. The 9.5 is a better option than the 9. But yes, they will work on the factory sizes. It is not ideal which was the reason for offering this solution.

I can take few more photos to show the Toyo on the 9.5 and post them.

Yes, you can fit the 305/30/19 on these wheels. The car at the shop actually daily drives on 20x11 with 305/25/20. These are his show wheels

The rear wheels he runs have a +25 offset. They are uber-flush! With a +35 offset the wheels will sit in 10mm more which will give ample clearance for tracking purposes. There is also plenty of room to the inside still.

I posted some photos of the shop car in the Black Series photo thread.

Just to update, we should have the finished wheels in next week. I will update the post with photos of the finished wheel along with photos through the mounting process and of course the final product installed on the car.

Once we install on the vehicle I will take some photos and share so you can see the fitment we went with. We spec'd out the offsets specifically with the owner and the wheel manufacturer. If anyone is interested in ordering we will spec out the same based on your need. Each application will be custom spec.

I have photos of the R888's mounted up on the new 19x11 rears. I will post up again with those and photos of the wheels mounted on the car. The customer came in late after we officially closed and I was gone already but I will have some photos for you soon. Everything came out great.

Too much dish on the new rear wheels. Really noticeable from the side view.
Not that there is anything wrong with the new rear wheels.

Yes, they are concave forged. Assume that is what you mean by the term "dish." You can get them in a concave style like pictured or a flat disc if desired. All up to you on what you want, we can have it built.

An update.. the customer with this car also wants the concave fronts so they are in the works. So like I mentioned above we can offer a full set of 4 wheels in any style (concave, super concave, flat disc).

Pm for pricing and info.
