I voted "maybe" with a qualification...

It's the best newer/modern car I've ever owned, a real beast...bought it by accident !

I'm used to older less sophisticated track cars like a DB-6 Vantage spec and even Jag MK II 3.8's....not as fast but you could feel the slip in the bias ply tires and control a corner drift much better..

There is nothing on the road like this car. Period.

Recently moved from a 550 Maranello to the CLK63 Black. The Black feels so incredibly alive yet so enticingly controllable. Completely different cars and technologies and both cars will post a massive smile on your face, but that CLK63... it truly makes me laugh out loud. It's outrageous.

It's right up there. Just ordered a McLaren, so there is competition.
The wildest/fastest car I ever owned was a 1969 Lola T163 CanAM that was modified just enough to have street plates. It was so scary fast that it is not describable, but it was a challenge to drive it 25 miles. But, every mile was a thrill.
The BS is easy to drive, and brings a smile every mile. And, the steering is unmatched by anything but a Lotus. And, the seats are fantastic. Reliability, and service available at any MB dealer add to the advantages.

The sad (or perhaps great) part of this is that there are so few cars, almost nobody has driven one. This is a secret shared by few. There are literally thousands of Ferraris and Lambos for each BS.
The recent auto mag article comparing the C63, M3, RS5 adds another dimension to the discussion. The current C63 goes into limp mode after 3 laps at the track. I was talking to Johnny O'Connell at Autobahn a couple of months ago, and he said none of the performance Mercedes or BMW cars can now be track-driven due overheating and going into limp mode.
I drove a Murci a few weeks ago, and found it dull and soft by comparison. On December 3, I'll be in Bologna at the Lambo plant to see the new Aventador our son ordered, so I'll have a chance to compare that. If your've driven a 458 Italia, you know the seats just don't work. So, the closest competitor is an iteration of a 997 GT3, which is fun but low torque (by comparison)
I loved the BS at the price I bought it, but at current prices, there is absolutely nothing that compares. Anybody who wants one should snap it up now. And, I will predict that if you love the BS, you will really like the new McLaren. AS

Well written Alexander. I saw the Aventador under wraps at the Four Seasons in Austin. I'm already starting to think I should try and find a second BS. What else can you buy at this price point that even comes close? Can't think of a thing...

I still miss my BS and wish I hadn't traded it for my 997TT. IMO, the BS is a drivers car and the TT is more of a DD. I plan to but another BS next year.

Yes, and unfortunately by a wide margin. Wish I had McLaren money. Congrats Alex!
