CLK Black Series or CL63

I am thinking of a Black Series CLK or a CL 63 (early non twin turbo engine)

Any major issues that I need to be aware of for each model, like the ABC horror stories I read on the SL (R230's)?

Appreciate the input.

He said CL not CLS, CL63's are pretty rare too just not as rare, raw and not nearly the performance of the CLK BS. The CL is a big GT, sorta heavy, with 4 seats. Two entirely different cars for two entirely different demographics.

+1

I wouldn't even attempt to compare the two. Ask yourself what you really want the car to do for you / what void you're trying to fill (or problem you're trying to solve). When you know that, you'll instantly have a decision made between the CLK63 BS and the CL63.

If you can get a CL600 I would say go for it. Upgrade with Speeddriven kits and it will be a missile. It will never have the zippyness of the CLK though, it's a big car but the interior is too good.

600 nicht

As much as the siren lore of owning a 600 calls, I will not be tempted to smash myself against the hidden rocks of financial destruction. I far prefer to read the odysseys of braver folk than I who choose to challenge the gremlin gods of 600.

As for the CL vs. the CLK methinks the Black would be best. But a new competitor has appeared on the horizon, an R8V10. Standby for more...

Unfortunately, you miss out on AMG's tuning (suspension, steering, brakes, stability), though. The CL63 isn't just an engine dropped in a CL body... It's much more than that.

If you've driven an R8V10 and a Black, you would know there is a very clear and deciding difference, UNDERSTEER in the R8, and oversteer in the Black. If you like really sharp steering, and the ability to steer the car with throttle and brake, you will not like the R8. Take the R8 to a parking lot and spin a donut. You will find yourself with a very wide circle. Do it in a Black, and the car will rotate in its own length (approximately).
The Black rides much harder, but has a real trunk, great seats, and an absolutely exhilarating feel. Plus, the engine sounds much better. The 8 cylinder R8 actually sounds better than the 10.
But, everyone needs to make their own mistakes. Let us know what you decide. AS

I spent a day with the R8 and it was boring to drive. Got a lot of attention tho. Picked up the CLK Black a month later. Absolutely no attention, and perma grin every time I'm behind the wheel.

+1 to the R8 assessment. My experience has been similar.
