CLK Black build
My name is charles and as you can probably see I'm new to this forum. I just recently sold my X5M and decided to pick up a CLK Black as its replacement. As a general rule of thumb, I don't like stock cars and have a history of going a bit crazy on mods. I've already decided what I'm going to do aesthetically, but I need some help with performance mods since I'm so new to the car. At this point, I don't really want to go the supercharged route (unless i get bored in the future) but I want to add some power without risking any engine/transmission damage. I also wanted to strip some weight off the car without going overboard.
I was thinking headers/exhaust, a new intake manifold, and some carbon bits but I'm not really sure which companies make parts for the black that aren't insanely expensive.
Lets get this build going!
Also, does anyone make an aftermarket air box that isn't carbon? I looked into Eurocharged and Renntech's but they are a bit pricey IMO. That seems like a good upgrade, but honestly paying 2X+ the price for it to be finished in carbon isn't worth it to be.

In addition camber plates for the front adjustment and adjustable rear control arms. Derlin bushing set available from Weistec along with hard mount bushing for diff. mount The car needs Neg. Camber to handle properly.
I was one of the first to begin modifying a new Black when released.
Renntech, EvoSport parts were installed as they were developed.
The Black has it's shortcomings which are magnified when you push more HP like you are going to do. HG is now helping me ( see Warrior Build) install parts now on my current Renntech Black. I knew there was more in the car but sold my first one before all the upgrade parts were developed.
I must say the recent work completed at HG focusing on handling has been outstanding. It's a completely different car. The 100% locking diff. and bushings w/proper alignment, tires/HRE wheels makes this car perform at a whole new level. Solid neutral handling far more slot car like feel and allot safer. Stock cars are tail happy, not very inspiring.
I'm still pushing the limits but track time will be the test.
Right now the handling gains are as exciting as the power gains you will experience. My next focus will be the Trans. which is prone to slow shifts, slippage & over heating. The Sportshift I had in my 2009 SL-63 Evosport project car was awesome. The engine got rev's faster and shifts were fast w/throttle blipping. I would love to adapt one of the new Mercedes trans. into the Black. I am even thinking of a Sequential Trans.
Feel free to contact me and I will be glad to pass down details of Mods to the Black. Good luck and great choice for some real performance gains taking the Black to a whole new level few have ever experienced.

However, if you wind up doing anything with the transmission, let me know, i would definitely be interested in doing something there
With these upgrades your drivetrain will be bullet proof. My car which has over 1,000 HP is proof the products work and are reliable.
