I imagine it would involve a hack into the ECU to change the miles, as that is where miles are stored I believe. Also, there would be a discrepancy in the Carfax , DMV, or SMOG report filed with the state.

It could simply be a scam ad. One where they do not have the car and just want to scam someone for a deposit. That happens all the time and would explain the mileage.

It actually can be done but on a BS AMG, I highly doubt it unless MB didn't improve on the security and hacker capabilities. A friend of mine has a friend who has a dealership and he has been giving a lot of Mercs a hair cut from what my friend says. The best is to run the VIN with MB for the Car Fax and decide from there.

There are anti-rollback in may odometer. A black line pops up between the digits. An easier trick is to replace the odometer with one with a lower mileage. Either way without notification, it's cheating.

It's "possible", but it will be spotted with a dealer PPI. On a W209, the odometer reading is stored in two well known places - the instrument cluster and the EIS (Electronic Ignition Switch). When the instrument cluster mileage and EIS mileage are off by more than 300 miles, the mileage appears on the STAR box as "an issue". For those who would try replacing the instrument cluster and the EIS and then programming both with a lower number, there's another electronic surprise behind door number three.
