Mecum Auction Black Series 1/13/2018
I know NFL playoffs were going on so many might have missed it, but Michael ***, best known for wild color scheme Ferraris sold 4 Black Series cars at auction today. You had to buy all of them, they weren't sold separately. You had the CLK63 BS, the SL65 BS, the C63 BS and the SLS BS. The highest bid stalled at $835,000, so it went negotiation once they rolled off stage. Mecum website says the foursome sold with buyers premium at $1,001,000. The CLK63 had just 159 miles on it, in fact all of them had low mileage, none over 700 miles on the odometer. The going asking price on an SLS Black is $450K so the value on the rest was divided up from there.

Nice catch on the Auction action !
With only 163 miles that's certainly one of the lowest mileage CLK Black series around.
There are two CLK Black series on Autotrader both with under 1000 miles , one for $136k and the other for $149k.
Also, there is one with apparently only 34 miles with the owner asking close to $300k !? Seems maybe a 'tad' optimistic.
I'm pretty sure the CLK Black will soon be one of those cars where you say " Man, i shoulda bought one back when they were well under $100k..."

I'm curious where they will be in another 20 years too. You look at the 190E 2.5-16 Evo II today at near $200,000 I guess you can argue the CLK BS doesn't have the race history the EVO II has and perhaps it isn't as dramatic look wise, but I can't imagine it wallowing under $100k in another 20 years. The youth generation today will be the buyers in another 20 or 30 years and I think it stands out among more generic looking cars. For that matter, almost any car that has dramatic fender flares from 20 to 40 years ago, seems to have a higher than normal value.
