Thoughts on Ceratec as oil additive?

The title says it all. Pros/cons. To add or not to add?

I do oil changes every fall before hibernation regardless of mileage driven (which is low each season). I am a fan of early and often regarding oil changes with the M156. All the same, I was curious if others are putting this or something similar in the engines' bloodstream.

As always, thanks.

I've never been a user of oil additives, and have never put anything in the BS, but have used Cera Tec on the C63. I did notice less lifter noise but nothing else. I am not sure if it is because the Cera Tec is quite thin, or its actually doing something. Either way, the motor has been running worry free for years; I typically change the oil every 6 months regardless of the miles driven.

I’ve never used it but have been considering it with my M156.
Really mixed reviews on line but I would say way more good VS bad feedback.
I’m all in for less friction and lower engine temps if that’s what it actually does.

Anyone have any results they want to share?

I recently added and after getting engine up to temp followed by 45min of driving both in town combined with high speed Hwy run it did improve engine noise and lifter ticking

Did you notice it lowered engine temps at all?

It's just an another novelty... I won't worry too much about engine temp in a daily driven car unless you are tracking it... Open up the hood after a spirited drive to get rid of the heat, to cool the engine quickly.

I didn't but also I never really had any temp issues even when I co-daily drove the car for a year here in FL

Nice to see this thread getting some attention. I am not really worried about heat and more about inevitable cam wear that all M156's have. I enjoy my BS but it does not get the miles my daily does. That said, it's a keeper and my young children will have to fight over it when I die. I am simply wondering if an ounce of prevention is beneficial.

@BLK63bk, why Cera Tec in your C63 but not the BS?

the C63 is a daily, and gets more wear and tear. I recently started adding it to the BS as well. Ran it for about 500 miles since and saw a immaterial drop in temp. Likely due to the better cooling setup on the BS vs the c63.
