Suspension/Coilover Options

Have a few track days under the belt with the BS now and the ~14yr shocks are really starting to show their age. I reached out to KW for a rebuild of the OEM shocks, which they are willing to do, however it will take ~5 weeks excluding shipping to turn around. If you search the web, it seems that there are many options, however when I check the manufacture's websites, 99% say excld. BS models. I just need a set for maybe 1 track day while I get my OEM set rebuilt and installed.

I am wondering if the C63 BS setup would fit our cars. Apparently we share suspension parts with the older w203 chassis, but I highly doubt the M156 we6 can be supported by the same shock that supports a c320.

Does anyone have experience with this?

You are very lucky KW accept to rebuild yours.
In Europe they refused and say that the only solution is to see with MB/AMG.And off course MB/AMG answers that they can only sell a new set.

Sorry but I can not answer to your question

@duuder they are essentially KW V3s with external reservoirs. See article from KW on the development.

Out of curiosity What’s the going rate of a new shock/coil over directly from Mercedes? Has any one priced one out recently? And what’s the lead time? I actually heard they were not that bad from a previous BS owner but not sure if things changed…

thats interesting, I was flat out refused the option to rebuild mine through KW directly from their customer service lines. Did you get a price from them on this?

part costs are 1800 or so direct from Mercedes

$1800 for one coil over or pairs? $1800 seems steep for one coilover, but alas dealership costs…
Yes, I’ve also heard KW will do a rebuild now as well from a fellow BS owner. Problem is will I leave the car on stands for 5 weeks. There’s gotta be a better way!

that's actually not bad, for something equivalent of KW's Clubsport coilovers (external reservoir)? $7200+tax retail, with the usual discount, that should be around $6k after tax.. brand new condition, not rebuild.

if KW would rebuild the old ones, I'd get that done, and then sell those to recoup some $ there, after all that, should be around $3k~$4k with a brand new condition ones in your car.

Personally I had my suspensions rebuilt at the same time while I was replacing the M156 head bolts and camshaft/valve bodies,
so I can left my car at local repair shop with the suspension removed for rebuild.

Furthermore, I'd like to know are there some good upgrades of suspension that could apply to our car?
I'd prefer Ohlins suspension but it seems they never made suspensions for the CLKBS.
