I got an offer e-mailed by a local dealer on a 2012 CLS 550. I was actually looking for CLS 63 AMG but by mistake they sent me an offer for the CLS 550.

MSRP: $78,895
Invoice: $73,434 (according to edmunds)
Dealer asking price: $70,339 (not sure if it was an error but have it in writing)
In addition you can wipe off $2,000 in conquest program (if it applies to you). That should be close to $5,500 off invoice if everything appears to be correct.

Seems like it would be a good deal. Any opinions for the price? AMG version with P/P should be about $30k-$38k more I would expect .That's what I really wanted but at this price the lease should be at least $600 cheaper a month than the AMG. Does the CLS 550 have enough power for every day driving? I am still waiting to get some offers on 2012 CLS 63 AMG but dealers are lagging to get back to me. Dilemma

i just got a 2012 cls550 4matic, its diamond white with black interior. I came from an E55 and no joke the CLS seems to be just as quick, so you wont be disappointed with the performance in the 550!

 

That's the exact combo I'm considering. I know I want the wheel package +1 and the black leather/black ash wood interior, but I am torn between the diamond white and palladium silver. I think the white looks amazing on the CLS, but the palladium silver would likely be a lot easier to keep clean, lol.

Anyone considering chipping the 2012 CLS550?

 

Congrats on the CLS.... I test drove the 550 about a month ago or so and it was very nice and powerful. Pure greed of more power and lack of common sense had led me to the 63AMG.

 

i would love the 63 only problem is winter here in pittsburgh, and i will try to post a few pictures when i get a chance!!

and i would hope to chip the TT engine soon, just havent seen a lot out there

 

Sent my ECU out to OE last week. Should be back on Wednesday. Crossing my fingers.

Good point. I came from a CLK55 and the E550/CLS550 is just as quick if not quicker. You won't be disappointed in the 550, and with gas approaching $5 a gallon, you won't hate the mileage either!!

 

Its enough power for everyday use, but If I was in your situation, .i would get the AMG. Because I wouldn't let it go, I'd be like, if I was in a 63 I would have made that light, got more attention etc. I would go AMG, just personal preference.

 

.... In real life, nobody is "making a light" because they have 550 HP VS 400 HP. I don't think anyone in their right mind is gonna juice that entire 550 or whatever HP just to catch a light? I'd hope they'd get pulled over and hauled into jail for putting people in such danger with that kind of weaponry. You'll be fine at stoplights with 250 HP, much less 400 HP, and the vast majority of people couldn't tell a difference between an AMG and an AMG Package.

What it comes down to, is which makes you feel better. Because the better value play is always the one down the line.
