ECU tune: Renntech or Eurochargerd

I have never modded or tuned any vehicle before. I want to have a tune and I think I'm down to either Renntech or Eurocharged. I will probably only do the tune. Help me choose...

Renntech: would be through a local Houston MB dealer. They give you a loaner for a few days while they ship out your ECU. Good because it's through the dealer which should alleviate any warranty issues with the car in the future. It is almost twice the cost though.

Eurocharged: Similar gains in HP and TQ according to Jerry at Eurocharged. They are in Houston and have offered to Dyno the car before and after at no additional charge. Roughly half of the Renntech price. I haven't heard as much about Eurocharged.

I would like some input/advice. Any opinions of either comapny? Any experience with either company?

Thanks a lot.

Does Jerry have the flash programmer ready for the M278 engines (like they introduced for the C63)? https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...ening-ecu.html.
I believe he was working on making this available soon.
If so, that seems like a plus because they don't need to "crack" the ECU housing to change the tune.

I'm a fan of RENNtech too because of their extensive testing.

Thanks, DC. I'll ask about the programmer.

Jerry's response is that the Bi-Turbo V8 cars, like ours, cannot use the programmer. I think I'm going for it!

I believe the warranty can be voided by modifying the ECU: open or not. It's probably Mercedes call whether or not they enforce it.
I don't have a personal experience and your mileage may vary.

Anytime you modify a car technically from OEM they can come back and void that part of the warranty. That being said, we have tuned well north of 5000 cars and never ran into a dealer warranty issue with the tune. In all honestly they would have to do a lot of work just to determine the tune is on the car.

Yes it looks like nstanford99 asked the question approx 31 hours ago and you did not respond to it. Thank you for the answer.

It looks like a lot of performance gains for little $. I am intereseted to hear what others have to say after the install.

I would only tune thru the dealer becasue of warranty. If something was to go seriousy wrong, you would be swinging for BIG bucks. If I was off warranty, then I would choose the other.

I know this is an old thread, but did the OP ever decide which tune to run?
