CLS550 Shooting Brake Speedometer-Shot 0-161mph!
Good morning and greetings from the German Autobahn!
I just took my '14 CLS 550 Shooting Brake X218 (it is called CLS 500 over here) to the Autobahn and did a quick and dirty acceleration from a stop to 161mph:
100km/h = 62mph
200km/h = 125mph
258km/h = 161mph
The car is limited to 161mph. Don't try this in the States! :P

Indeed. If I compare my CLS 550 SB with my E 550 4MATIC, I have to admit that the CLS is faster! Despite the fact that the E-Class has got a better coefficient of drag it is still slower by aproximatly 3 seconds during the acceleration from 100-250km/h (62-156mph):
I guess this is the result of those additional 4-wheel-drive-losses.

No, it is RWD. I was very disappointed of the 4MATIC in my W212. Way to much understeer for me and we do not have that much snow down here (approximately 2-4 weeks per year).

Some of you might also be interested in a video showing the sound of the CLS 550 Shooting Brake with AMG package. The car is stock. The Video had been recorded with the sunroof flapped up just a bit.

Is that the stock exhaust I hear? The car sounds great, and I thought I heard a little crackle, similar to an AMG!

thank you for your kind question. The car is 100% stock with the optional AMG Package. And yes, the sound is pretty similar to the CLS 63, however, as it has the very dated and slow 7g-TronicPlus, it lacks the sound while shifting. There is no nice downshifting rumble and I do not get that popping sound when upshifting during WOT.
So yes, similar tone, but not as emotional as an AMG.
