New-to-me 2013 CLS550

Been reading up on this forums for awhile after I purchased a 2013 CPO CLS550 about 2 months ago. Purchased a set of 20" wheels (Hankook Evo12 tires) and lowering links for another board member and now wanted to take a couple pics of the car.

1 definite thing still to do (have the clear side markers and have yet to install). And 2 things I'm still thinking about
- adding 10mm spacers to the rear wheels
- taking out the resonators and adding in an x-pipe in its place

I've read that some have taken out the resonator and put in straight pipes and are not happy with the idling sound. Never heard if putting in an x-pipes help or not!

Other than that, I've been really happy with the way the car drives and the lowering links were a breeze to install. now onto the last couple things!!

Here's a couple pics taken so far....

Looks great! Classy wheels.. I removed resonator and put straight pipes, no complaints.. the sound is lovely at heavy throttle, idle, etc.

Did the resonator delete!

The muffler place was so quick in cutting out the resonator and welding in the x-pipe that I did not get to take a picture of the new pipe. I did take a picture through the old resonator and it is sorta like a x-pipe where the two exhausts do join here and then split back out. Also attached a quick sound file (along with my son and friends playing street hockey in the driveway!).

Im wondering if anybody that did resonator delete with straight pipes has listened to their car from outside?? I had straight pipes before and honestly i thought it sounded horrible while cruising around.. You cant hear in from inside you have to have somebody drive it and stand outside as it drives of slowly.. Have x pipe now and cant complain only thing really is that its not really noticeably louder to everybody else .

I think if you want it to be louder then replace the secondary cats with just straight pipes before your x-pipe and then see what it sounds like?

The muffler place told me that the x-pipe is the least aggressive sounding option..straight pipe, then h-pipe, then x-pipe. But each seemed to have its own drawbacks...

1) straight pipe - if the oem resonator joins the dual pipes, there must be some mechanical reason they want to even out the flow as it goes out the dual mufflers. So my thinking was not to mess with that.

2) H-pipe - was told it would sounds louder than the x-pipe, but it potentially creates more backpressure than you would want. Not an efficient way to get the exhaust out the back

3) X-pipe - evens out the flow going to the mufflers, and an efficient way to not create more backpressure, but its the least aggressive sounding of the options.

So the 4th option I guess if you want it louder would be to take out the secondary cats right before the X-pipe and then maybe you are getting the best of both worlds!

Do you have a sound clip of it at idle and revving after warmup? The clip above sounded like a cold start??

Sweet looking ride....love the HRE's. How much did you lower it with the links? Are the pictures of the ride in comfort or sport mode?
