CLS550 gas milage

I drive a CLS500, 2014 model year. Just got it 3 weeks ago and have barely 1000 miles on it. I am getting lousy milage. averaging about 12-14 mpg. Most of my driving is City driving in New York City, but I came out of a 2012 E350 that was averaging between 18-20mpg.

How is your MPG and driving habits?

I bought my cls three days ago and in city driving will give me just about the same if you are on it. I do have really good driving tendencies as far as squeezing the hell out of gas, and so far in the hwy I'm getting around 27mpg and about 17 city

I would be very happy with 17 MPG combined... let alone City. maybe there is a problem with my car... its really eating a lot of gas.

It depends on how you are driving. I am averaging about the same in DC city traffic in 2014 E550 matic.

I'm averaging 17-18 combined but I'm pretty chill on the gas pedal.

The bi turbo engine's city mpg is worse than advertised. It's really on the highway where they excel. Both my S550 and CLS get crap mileage in the city. S is a bit better with start stop.

City MPG could be about 14-15 but have gotten 26+ when cruising on the hwy. I really think NYC traffic is the worst kind of city traffic so I am not surprised that you are getting below 14. Give it another 1000 miles when fully broken in and see how it goes.

City MPG in a CLS550 is awful. But then again so is all cars. I went on a test drive in a 2012 CLS and highway I was seeing 25MPG. Not bad at all. You have to remember also these cars have an adaptive transmission so if you are hard on it when city driving combined with the constant stop and go traffic you will drain your tank pretty fast. A CLS or any larger MB does make a good city car. Also, you only have 1,000 miles on a car. I keep my cars a while and I will tell you they get better MPG with time.

In town, I'm at an average of about 14/15, but I've got a heavy foot, and I love to use the paddles. I took a trip to SLC Utah in June... 80mph+ up and back, including driving around town while there, and averaged 22 for the trip, and that included a stretch between Baker and home during which, well, let's just say that I now know where the limiter kicks in.

so I calculated the miles I do on my daily work commute and I'm doing exactly a 50/50 mix of city and hwy.

My combined is right around 24mpg.

Variables
- Florida - mostly flat
- New car with 600 miles on it.
- chill driving

yeah i'm not complaining. I figured that is decent for an 8 cyl. Wish I didn't have to baby the throttle so much to attain this mpg.

It's too early to pay attention to the gas mileage. Every new car has a voracious appetite for fuel, during the break-in period. You will eventually see it level off. I can't help you more than that, because I don't concern myself w/ the mpg at all.

I must have some really good driving tendencies cause I got 31-32mpg on a new GLK350 loaner they gave me yesterday.
