Discount off Factory Build
I am looking to do a factory build for a 2016 CLS 550.
MSRP for my factory build $86,300
I am gathering offers from several dealers and one offered $76,290.00 + tax, tag, and fees.
Thats about an 11.6% discount.
Does that sound like a good deal?
For factory build do they discount that much (or do they usually give such discounts for inventory new cars)?
Should I be cautious of what tax, tag, and "fees" they will try to add?
What are considered usual/normal fees, and which fees are unnecessary?
Any advice is most welcomed.

that seems pretty damn good to me, I've configured 4 MB's and have never gotten that much off, stick to the regular ordering guide so you don't get stuck with a special order fee.....
what options are you looking into?

Thank you all for your responses. Keep em coming.
The options I configured were....
EXTERIOR COLOR: designo Diamond White Metallic
WHEELS: 19-inch twin 5-spoke
INTERIOR COLOR: Saddle Brown/Black leather
INTERIOR TRIM: Burl Walnut wood
INTERIOR OPTIONS: Wood/leather steering wheel
OPTIONS: Premium Package
OPTIONS: Split-folding rear seats
OPTIONS: Active multicontour driver seat
OPTIONS: Driver Assistance Package
OPTIONS: Parking Assist Package
by the way, any insight, advice or suggestions on the options I selected are most welcomed; perhaps some of the options I chose are overkill and are options you all with experience can say I will never use

Your car is configured almost exactly like mine. The only thing different is the wheels, interior color, & steering wheel. Designo Diamond White Metallic is an awesome color. I get compliments on it all the time. The only thing about my interior that I want to change is the burl walnut wood. I do not like it at all. No disrespect to any of the older gentlemen, but that wood trim makes the car feel like an older guy should be driving it. I plan on changing it out with the open pore black ash trim. The gloss on that trim leaves spots, fingerprints, & anything else you can think of on there. It's a pain. Mine came with the flat-bottom all leather steering wheel. But it sounds like you have an excellent package put together.

Thanks for responding darkgable79 and for the insight.
I was torn between Black and Designo Diamond White Metallic.
I was looking at black because, compared to the white, the chrome work on the exterior stands out more and I like those chrome details. Also, I like that mirror polished look when the black is cleaned well (very reflective). However, my issue with the black color is that, although the chrome stands out, the other exterior details (such as the front grill vents, and the curves on the side) get lost in all the black. Too me it just looks like a black blur :-) (someone correct me if I am wrong about the black)
With the diamond white metallic, although the chrome doesnt stand out as much, you do see the exterior details (the curves on the side are more distinguishable). The final deciding factor was that I am located in South Florida and having white exterior would mean the car wouldnt bake out in the hot sun ...as much ;-)
darkgable79, your insight into the burl walnut wood is very helpful. I had not considered that the gloss would make fingerprints more apparent. I may have to revisit that option. Just something for me to consider, so thank you.

Thank you all for responding.
I place the order with Mercedes Benz of Fort Lauderdale. I only had to put down a $1500 deposit using credit card to place the build, but is there anything I can do now to ensure that the dealership will honor the price we negotiated when I place the order (i.e. they wont raise the price once the vehicle is delivered)??? Besides a note and initial on the build sheet from the manager on the amount of discount I will get, there is no other paperwork that confirms the price we negotiated.
any advice is most welcomed

I didn't do a build order as mine was a CPO. I've read on different forums about plenty of people doing build orders & I can't recall one of them dealing with the dealership raising the price after the fact. Your build sheet & deposit should have the price set. Check with MBUSA & see what they say.

Any updates on %% off MSRP recently? I'm probably going to custom order the refreshed 2019 in a few months. Got 10% off our custom 2018 GLC recently.
