Aftermarket Warranty?

I had a 3rd party warranty on my last car (E60 BMW M5) and it was like $5K and I think I may have had $1200 worth of work covered in the 4 years it extended my coverage. It simply wasn't worth it. It seems on BMW, stuff starts to break only after about 10 years. I'm not sure about Mercedes, but it seems like the biggest problems with these cars are the Airmatic suspensions which can be expensive if you go factory, or relatively affordable if you go with 3rd party rebuilds.
I've also read a lot of horror stories about getting claims paid by 3rd party warranty companies... to the point where the cost to prove it's covered (through added tear-downs and analysis), exceeds the original cost of repair.

I've had a 3rd party warranty before and the key is to get the contract before signing. If you just listen to the salesperson you will get jipped. For instance they will say everything is covered except body work and regular maintenance but later I found out electronics were not covered so my head unit was out of luck.

Yeah I think I am going to pass on this warranty, I can always get one, later on, to be honest.
