Googled and found this:

"The CLS range is positioned above the E-Class but below the S-Class in the Mercedes model range and models tends to be less practical than the E-Class it is based on.

Just like CLA is based on the A-Class, the CLS is based on the E-Class (despite not being called CLE)

Also CLS come from CL-Class (now S-Class coupe), based on the S-Class. The name CL stands for the German Coupé Leicht (Coupé-Light) or Coupé Luxusklasse (Coupé-Luxury)"

Also read CL A is based in A class and CL S is based on the S. I know it's E class with some S but like the idea of it being the CLS (not CLE &#128517

I dig it lol, I actually thought that's exactly what it meant when I was younger lmao, a smaller, sexier version of the S class, hence the name CLS!

So is it really true that its called CLS because it has a bit of S class pieces in it? The E class really has nothing S class in it while the CLS does, so maybe thats really why its called CLS?

That's just my CLS 250 DIESEL 😅 no one has the fun ones in Ireland 😪! Petrol (Gas is treble the price of US) and car tax and insurance is crazy.

I think it just coincidentally has the word "S" in the name, but has nothing to actually do with the S class lol. Tho I must say, the leather is nicer in my CLS than my last E class, but maybe I'm just trippin lmao.

it is a higher class car than the E so of course the materials are nicer inside.

I guess the answer is that it stands for "coupe light sport"

I dont get the idea but ok lol
