IIRC, the factory sub on the HK7 is high-passed at ~38hz, so you'll never get faithful low frequency reproduction by going the line out converter route.
the signal definitely extends below 38hz. i didn’t measure it but I did have to set a high pass on my amplifier for my sub specific application around 25-30hz.
With just the fronts playing it low psses around 60 and with rears around 80-90hz.

If someone is interested in true sound quality, a flat signal with a DSP is the only route. In all reality though, a LOC on the sub is good enough for 99.9% of people, even people who consider themselves "audiophiles". Cabin gain helps compensate for much of the low end roll off.
I have been wanting to add a sub, but I need my spare tire and I like being able to fold the seats down and carry cargo and stuff. Need to get a custom moulded box made or something I think (for a normal non-shallow mount subwoofer)

My other advice? Spend $1300 on the mObridge MOST25 8.1.1, which gives you 6 175wrms channels, 2 300wrms channels, and 1 1000wrms @2ohm sub channel, in addition to an RCA sub out.
Super easy to install, and will make your entire system (even with the factory door speakers) sound remarkably better if you added even a mediocre subwoofer. For a sub, get 1 Stereo Integrity SQL12, it only needs ~1cf sealed.
If you wanna be a nut like myself, the mObridge allows you to run a fully active 3way up front, and then use the sub RCA out to power 2 of the SQL12's in an infinite baffle alignment on 3500wrms. This way, you don't have an enclosure to worry about- simply a baffle at the passthrough opening. You could spend less than $3k and have a TRUE audiophile level system, the type that most people have never heard. I'm still acquiring drivers and such, I'll post everything up once completed.
