2016 CLS 400 2015 Build Apple Carplay Question
Hello Everyone !!! I have a question to fellow forum members . As in title I have 2016 CLS 400 but it is build in August of 2015 . It is a facelift model but it didn't come with Carplay . Now my question is . I have seen those devices online that should made carplay available however they all point to 2015 december built cars . Does anybody know if it is possible to have carplay without major investment like changing whole multimedia system in this car? Appreciate any and all the help!

I purchased one of those devices and it didn't work, was a waste of $100 and the hassle of dealing with sellers on eBay from China. Take it to your dealer and they will charge you with 1 hour's worth of labor to install CarPlay. Mine costed $203.

I am wondering how did it cost $200 When dealers in Chicago area hear about this it’s a big no no can’t be done I know that my usb needs to be replaced and some sort of update done. That usb is $99 online so not a big deal. Looks like I need to make some phone calls. Thanks for reply !

I have a 2015 CLS550 and took it to a coder shop for the carplay feature. The guy told me that the carplay capability is already there. Just needs recoding to activate. I believe he charged me less than $200, but it was a while ago, so the exact figure escapes me. Works perfectly, by the way.
On a side note, I would recommend you look at the simple install of an Amazon Echo in your car. Total cost is around $60 and you end up with many of the features of Carplay at a fraction of the cost. Install is silly easy and takes about 5 minutes. I have mine in the back seat divider, where the ashtray is located. Out of the way, unseen and still works with voice activation. Also, with a simple pairing to the car's speakers, you can listen to music through any of the providers, (I use Amazon Music) over your car's stereo system)

Car is at the dealer for a squeaking display and possibly headlight replacement since it’s fogging pretty badly to the point that there are water drops inside of it so hoping to get this resolved first than we will see how that goes. It’s 2016 with only about 6k miles so let’s see how this plays out.
