I just purchased a 2012 CLS 550 4-Matic. Car is great!! There is zer0 window tint. I'm getting the car tinted tomorrow. Is there a way to disable the (auto) rolldown/rollup when getting into the car?

I'm sure this has been asked before but when I google search this I get Mustang tine and child window safety.

Much thanks,
Gary from Minnesota

P.S. I'm a wrencher that works on cars and not afraid if S**T I'll be posting many DIY posts in future much like my old Acura forum.

Looking forward to your posts, Marv.

I don't think there's a way to disable that, as that's the only way the window clears the Roof line. Without it, the window would break instantly.

Not worth risking damage to the windows.
A good tint shop will get the film down below the interior trim panel line.
I had mine done to full tint legal limit (MA) and it came out beautiful.

I went to TintWorld and got 35 on the fronts and 18 on the back. looks good to me...still cant roll my windows down because I live in Siberia and the drying time is double. Went to the car wash with a line..pulled up short of the kiosk....got out entered the code....peeps looked at me like I was nutz.

I'll post some pics once it's cured.....still with tiny bubbles.

BTW: Dude at the tint shop said he knew about this M-B window feature and sealed the edges before he worked his way to the middle....whatever that means in the world of tint?

It can't be disabled, as long as the tint film is below the lower window trim level it should not be an issue. Still don't push it by running the windows up and down. If the shop is good and they use good quality film you'll be OK, I've never had a problem. By the way Porsche uses the same window mech and no problems.

Siberia !!?? You have car wash facilities there? I have to get out more, I guess.
In the States, each state mandates a maximum light "block" for security reasons. Most of the time that rule sucks, unless you are law enforcement.
No front (windshield) aftermarket tint is allowed.
Some southern US states have no "max" because of the generated solar heat and resulting damage to interior trim, etc.
I live in Massachusetts where 35% is the max, and can be applied to sides, roof and rear.
That is what I have and I like the uniform tint on all windows.
I am on this forum because I want to find a preowned C218 to replace my C219. I love my car but there are no replacements to be found.
