Hi. You can wire your Bosch 010 or this CWA100-2 to run 100% all the time. I did add a switch because I like to control the pump to run when I need it to. ( Like before I will take a 1/4 mile pull on Dragy, or I'm going to race against some other car) And when I'm driving normally I can make the pump have a little rest.

Yes also the ECU is turning the pump on and off when my switch is in OFF mode. Your tuner can also make some adjustment to the ECU soft to run the pump a little early than normal, but it can't be done to run 100%.

Hope this help.

Awesome thanks for the info !! i appreciate it ! Nice work on the car by the way, I've been reading over your posts and I've learned a lot about the M278 from it. I bought my 550 as a daily beater and winter car, but im falling in love with the idea of a sedan with a big motor and lots of power lol

Today I finally swap my FPC to AMG one. It was a really easy to do. Looks like the long cranks and the pump noise is gone! Its winter still so I can't drive the car now and can't log it what other things might happen to fuel delivery. Thanks Siegmann!! Other really good thing is that 10.5 I will go to new custom tuning session with my tuner Motorbit. So if there are fuel issues after this AMG FPC they can all get fix nicely.

AMG FPC waiting install.

Original on down and AMG up.

Yes sir, you can play with flow and voltage for the fuel pump, and you can play with the auxiliary coolant pump as well. I did it for my ML550

Out of curiosity, does the fuel pump controller still just send DC power with a PWM signal to the pump in our vehicles? I'm experimenting with an Idea but I read somewhere the power on my 3 wire pump is an AC power source, but it doesn't sound right. I do know though some vehicles out there do in fact use AC brushless pumps

Hi. I did use some CLA 45 AMG aux connector hoses from scrap yard the connectors fit perfect to extra aux HE. I did cut those and connect with some plastic fittings to other hose to IC pump.

Fuel pump

@PekkaH

Amg fuel pump with extra line
hey man I heard you could get away with just replacing the passenger side pump but my factory pump has one less holes in the AMG pump. There’s a hose in a bracket coming off the AMG pump extra. What did you do?

This swap didn't help me out. The pump noise was still there sometimes. Finally yesterday the crank was so long with start button on that car hit the code. "Low pressure pump fuel pressure to o fro me the low".

I have to use the "key trick" for now on again.

So the FPC swap didn't help me out. I have some doubt that my car isn't the "special" one and all other that have done the swap suffer still this problem also. @Siegmann what have you experienced?

Sorry to hear that - for me, the pump noise hasn't returned since I swapped the controller. I did get the long crank issue again intermittently and then some misfires, and the problem was an injector sticking open. The car was having a hard time making rail pressure at start-up due to excess flow through that injector. Are you able to log data? Rail pressure, fuel trims, misfires were key to diagnosing my issue.

That's good to hear that in your case the controller swap did help. Are you really sure that your pump don't make any noise when you open your cars door? Im my case it does that sometimes.

Happy to hear also that you found the sticking injector problem. I think in my case the fuel trims, rail pressure aren't the problem. Car runs great no misfires or anything, just that problem on star up and pump noise when opening door. Those won't come every time. Yes I have hp tuners to log those if needed.

Im still waiting to retune from my tuner. Hope I can get it in next month or so..

After this summer I'm going to still pull the injectors out the and sent those somewhere to flow tested and clean up. Car have now 168tkm. on odometer.

I haven't noticed the noise since the swap. I did apply the M157 fuel pump tables in HPTuners prior to swapping the controller, so that may be half of the solution. The voltage/flow specs are different than the factory 278 pump. Hopefully the retune helps you!

Good idea to service the injectors. In my opinion they are one of the more critical maintenance items in the 278/157 engines. One leaking injector can cause a lean condition for other cylinders.

Thank you very much for your info for apply the M157 fuel pump tables and voltage/flow spec! I will talk that with my tuner. Maybe he have done those already, or maybe he have done it some other way.

Yes those injector problems can destroy engines as u certainly know. And with E blends you must be even more careful. E clocks injectors more than normal fuel. I assume you know also that all ready.

I will report what will happen when I finally get that ECU retune.

No retune, but I did swap the white clock to AMG IWC ( part number A 218 827 01 70) clock. I did found used one with nice price.

This looks so much better than the white one. Fits perfect with all other interior colors.

Really no need to get the air vents off. Just swap the clock when this instrumental panel is pulled off.

Original replaced. 100% bolt on.

Here is one project that I will try to install someday. Bought used parts like CLS63 diffuser, CLS63 reflector (maybe CLS550 coupe have already this reflector, but shooting brake have bigger so I need this also) and C63 exhaust tips. CLS63 AMG original tips are welded to two exhaust pipes that comes from muffler. I have 3" cat back and muffler so I have to use different tips. it's not going to be bolt on.. I have original semi electronic turning tow bar and it's not going to fit/work with diffuser without grinding. Also those C63 tips are so big that needs some grinding and who knows how they can't be installed to bumper. So maybe this is going to work or maybe not. Wish me luck

Diffuser+reflector and tips

PekkaH, the car is looking great and appears to be coming along nicely in the power department as well! Congrats on breaking into the 10's! It's been a while as I got frustrated with my progress and lost interest in the forums here because of that, but I went back to the stock fuel pumps and added a boost activated auxiliary fuel pump from Spool Performance here in the States. Comes on at 5psi and provided enough E85(100%) for my power mods. Ended up running an 11.2 @ 122mph before the car was hit and totaled. I do have the kit available(new stock pump and secondary pump with all wiring, bracket and hoses) if you would like to purchase...should help fix your fuel pump issues. Used for approx 2,000 miles before car was totaled. I sold the car to another member here in a different state so I removed the aux fuel system as he didn't have access to E85 in his area and didn't need the system. I now have an SL550 BiTurbo(RWD) and am working on gathering parts for it to start modding. More than likely a custom boost activated secondary pump, AMG turbos, Big-*** IC pump with key on running and a few other goodies. For sure the SL is already tuned and I feel it has a TCU tune as well, due to it shifting and acting a lot like my TCU tune on the E550 did. 11.9 @ 120 in the Texas Summer Heat!

Let me know what you think about the fuel pump setup. I wanted to offer it to you first as a pioneer of the M278 mod world. If you're not interested, I'll offer it up in For Sale Forum unless someone else shows interest here in this thread.
