Does it make sense to have a PPI done on a CPO vehicle? What would a MB dealer miss? Normal wear and tear are my responsibly, so tires, rims, brakes - are those throughly checked by the dealer?
I bought a CPO 2015 CLS550 and didn’t have a PPI done. The car was mint, I never should have sold it. But by selling it and learning I could not bring myself to purchase an inferior car, I am happy to report I will be buying a CPO 2018 CLS550, thus my question.
By saying PPI, do you mean Pre Purchase Inspection? If it's a CPO, there wouldn't be a need to do one. The CarFax must be clean, no accidents, mileage under 50K, and tires at least 1/2 tread. They do a comprehensive inspection that would put them on the hook for future mechanical issues. You're good to go!
I committed to buying my 2015 CLS550 CPO from MB North Palm Beach which is 225 miles from me without ever seeing it. 1 owner clean Carfax all svc done on time at the same dealer it was purchased from and it was exactly as advertised when I showed up. I love it! I'd say you should be good to forego that.

I drove my 2010 CTS Wagon trade-in from Denver to Cinncinatti without seeing the car. Like yours, it was clean, mechanically excellent and they even changed the batteries and tires prior to my purchase. Enjoy, Marv

Bought in July 2020 with 37k mi, CPO. One older owner, bought and serviced at the same dealer since new, traded it in with towels on the seats to protect them! He bought a 2020 AMG GT 4-door. Paid $35,991, and offered me $2k above clean trade value on my F10 BMW 535i. Here's the build sheet on it.
