Center console leather ripping

How ya'll doing?

I just noticed that my center console lid's leather is ripping/breaking at 3 spots only, on one side. Is there a fix for this or have to replace the lids? I came across a listing on eBay for $150 + $60 shipping lol. It is a small rip, so there got to be a cheap fix for this with glue and some spray paint lol. Anyone has any ideas or has done it?

That one on eBay is in Rancho Cordova, take a drive and pick it up!

I mean I can, but it's still $180 lol. Is there no way to fix or repair that tiny rip? What would even cause it to rip like that? There are no other scratch marks or anything that could have led to this.

And I believe that Rancho Cordova place is selling the entire compartment unit, not just the lids.

You're not wanting to spend $180 to repair the interior of your $80K Mercedes? Spend the money, dude - those leather repair kits are crap.

I double checked and never said I am not going to spend $180. I'm simply asking for cheaper options available because they are small tears. If there aren't, then I will have to replace the lid. That's the whole point of the forums to seek help and other options instead of buying parts right away.
Thanks for your input.

I apologize for being dismissive.
What I should have said is the only two ways to fix that is to have an upholster cover it (too expensive) or use a leather/vinyl repair kit. I've personally tried the highest quality leather repair kit I could find, and while it covered the cracks, it still looked bad. All things considered, there's probably not a cheaper, good alternative than just replacing the things with decent used parts if you can get them for an acceptable price.

Hmm. Maybe I can give a local upholstery shop a call and just inquire about their price and compare with the one on sale.

I mean, if I have to replace it at the end of the day, I might as well try to fix and mess around with it before buying the parts online.

What kit did you use, if you remember? I'm just going to browse around for now. I came across Leather Max kit which was listed for $30+ on Amazon, but found it listed for $20 on Walmart, smaller amount. The youtube dude who used it on his armrest tears, sprayed the paint that came in the kit and it looked pretty good. But as I said, if it doesn't look good, I will just replace the part with a new one. But doesn't hurt to do a DIY and see how it goes. lol

Lol I spent $21.5k on my 2012 CLS 550 with 60k miles.

Old guy owned, serviced regularly at the same dealership. No way I would pay full price only to suffer 80% depreciation over 10 years

Me too - bought 2013 CLS550 w/58K miles last year for $21.5K. But it still started life as a $90K car when new.
I don't care how much money somebody has, taking the initial hit on these things is brutal - no more for me.
